Eze, going by all the reports was our original first choice target, dating back to when Ange was still in charge. Then sometime around the time we signed Kudus, reports started coming out that Woolwich wanted him, and he only wanted them, which is when we switched to MGW. Then they went and signed Madueke and they seemed to go cold on Eze, this coincided with Maddison’s injury and we came back into the picture.

Fwiw, I think we should be sounding out MGW’s agent again, might be a non-starter, but with all the chaos at Forest just now, and the weird behaviour of Marinakis around him, I wonder if he might change his mind. Chuck £75m on the table and see if Forest change their stance. If we’re gonna overpay for a #10, which it seems like we have to, we might as well overpay for someone we really wanted, and one who is the most sure fire guarantee to actually work out as a signing.

We won’t though, cause Levy is penny wise and pound foolish, he’d rather spend £55-60m on an Akliouche or Paz - both of whom look talented but may not work at this level/league - than spend an extra £15-20m for someone who is more or less a cast-iron guarantee to work out and would be your number 10 for the next 7-8 years.

A good read.

Very important few days ahead.

The abacus needs to be put to one side for a while.

Another rumour in the Italian papers about Roma being after Odobert. I do wonder if taking small loss on him and putting the cash towards overpaying for Savinho is the correct thing to do.

Odobert is skillfull but he just seems to be a bit of a wallflower. I can’t see him ever really stamping his authority on a match the way Kudus has come in and done.
Odobert is rated very highly in France.

Just when I thought the incompetence was at an all time high these rumours of Vuskovic being loaned and us looking to sign another centre back come along...

How many fucking centre backs do we need? We seem to only want to play 5 at the back every now and then, so why do we need 6 players in that position ON TOP of our elite young prospect AS WELL as our regular youth team guys?

There's no way we need that many centre backs sitting around collecting dust when we have a massive need up the other end of the pitch.

If we have another injury crisis we need to be able to say to guys like Vuskovic and Takai that now is your time to help out. Not going to sign another 30m punt from around the world and block their pathway to the first team.

I rate Odobert very highly, if we got Savinho he’d struggle for minutes unless we had injuries so a loan would make sense. Selling would be dumb.

But I don’t think we are signing Savinho so pointless to think about for now tbh
Odobert looks alright but not strong enough, or quick enough to gap players and take people out of the game imo. Nicely balanced player but not physical enough for the PL defenders
