Ok I generalised abit much there.
I think his negotiation tactics work better for buying less established players who we identify as being on the up. This is because we pay a decent price for those players and the clubs we buy off probably see it as a good tradeoff between what they get at the time from us and the likelyhood of that said player kicking on and being worth more if they keep them.
Eg, vdv, udogie, vicario. These are more likely to come off because we have lists of potential alternatives we can move onto.
But when it comes to getting players we really need, specific players of quality hes a nightmare and ill equipped in the modern game.
On "the up" and when their current value is ostensibly lower than what his ego has calculated as their true sealing. He has a pattern of projecting his investment background on to managerial appointments and players alike:
- AVB - His experience at Chelscum lowered his stock value, Levy thought he could wash off the dirt and take pride in snapping up the Porto invincible under everyone's noses.. buy low, sell high, how'd that turn out
- Mourinho - Serial winner, no way could the premier league have outgrown his tactics, Levy knew better than everyone else.. buy low, sell high, how'd that turn out
- Conte - Serial winner, back to back club fallouts, Mr Levy knew better, he could tame him... buy low, sell high, how'd that turn out
- Timo Werner - He was one of Europe's best strikers weren't he!? He couldn't be as washed as we saw with our own eyes during his first loan spell, just you wait... buy low, sell high.. how'd that turn out
- Mathys Tel - Wonderkid gets shunned out by Kompany.. couldn't be a reason behind that, no.. he did sweet fuck all during his loan spell but Levy's a genius don't ya know! Let's take up a spot in the squad for him and turn him around granted there's a new manager coming in... let's see how that turns out
