Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Loan deal with option to buy next year, fucking hell we’re acting like paupers this summer. No wonder we’re struggling to get this savinho deal done.

Why would they accept that deal?! They are losing one of their best players with a week to go in transfer window and won't actually start getting paid for it for another year?!?

Hmmmm

I'm not even excited about this tbh. We do need a cb that can play lb but we need a 10 and wide sided player much more.
We can’t just magic one out of thin air that’s good enough and wants to play for us.

The market is looking dry as balls and we’ve missed out on most of our targets. I’d rather add genuine quality to another part of the pitch than panic buy someone who isn’t really going to improve us at an inflated price.

The Premier League team is fine for numbers, but we can only register 22 players for the Champions League as things stand

Solanke/Richarlison
Tel/Kudus/Johnson/Odobert
Kulusevski/Sarr
Gray/Palhinha/Bentancur/Bergvall
Porro/Udogie/Spence
Romero/Danso/van de Ven/Dragusin
Vicario/Kinsky/Austin

We're talking upgrades with any new signings which will mean, for every new signing, one player will have to be removed from the above. Who are you taking out?

Easy:

Kulu (injured) <> #10
Dragusin (injured) <> FB
Tel or Odobert <> LW / another #10
+ Austin is CT so that's space for another.

I dunno tbh, we lost more games when we didn’t have Romero and VDV than we did any player

Hincapie means we can rotate VDV, Udogie, Spence, and Porro all by signing one player

And he’s another winner in the squad
I think its a big signing too if we can pull it off. Our defensive depth would be stronger than ever and Frank has us defensively so well coached that we'll be very hard to beat. There probably will come a stage in the season where we have 3 games a week and have 1 or 2 of our current back 4 injured. And its usually then when our season quickly derails. This signing would rule that scenario out. We could also rest VDV regularly and actually try to proactively avoid his annual hamstring injury.

Kulusevski and Dragusin won't be in our Champions League squads for the group phase. No way we should take up squad spots for them when they likely won't be back until November at the earliest and will be highly unlikely they'll be match sharp until next year.

Copium comment : but with some reality :

Hincapie improves the XI. Period.

Gives Frank the ability to play back3 a lot more times. We can play Hincapie also at LB. Or play lop sided back4 with Hicapie,VDV,Romero with Porro pushed up.

If we dont get a proper no10, and play predominant , then basically we move the creativity from no10 to wingbacks. Thats ok with me.

My gut on Hincapie and our defence is:

Right back: Porro, Spence

Right Centre back: Romero, Danso, Dragusin

Left centre back: VDV, Hincapie

Left back: Udogie, Hincapie, Spence

Dragusin and Davies to be sold, Takai to be loaned. Vuskovic to take over from Danso next season after the Berlin loan.

Additionally we will be playing a back 3 more often. This helps with a lack of a 10 as in that system 352 you don’t need it as much, chances comes from wing backs and midfield runners.
I dont think we will go back 3 too often. We didnt do that at Etihad, hard to imagine more than 5 tougher places we will visit this season.

This defense would look so good, but on the other hand if we dont get AM - it would be terrible squad management. People are worried we can't handle season with 3 fullbacks + Micky/Davies/Gray as emergency covers - when we have just 5 central midfielders to cover 3 spots right now.

Hincapie would be most welcome as far as I'm concerned, but can see Chelsea jumping in unless we move double quick.
Still need a No 10 and Savinho, doubt we get anything.
It has the potential to be one of the best windows ever or, a fucking disaster with players rejecting us left, right and center.

Yeh this is the type of deal you move fast or you get hijacked.
