Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

NIL in the US for high school students isn't even legal in all 50 states. You have no clue what you are talking about. And before NIL, which has been around for 4 years, any sponsorship would have made kids lose their amateur status and they couldn't play in college, which is still how many US players advance to play in MLS.
I have some thoughts on this. like it would be better for the development of talent in the US is MLS clubs got their hands on the best prospects at 16 and not go through the college system. but that's for another thread

That has to a very significant degree already happened. Most of the best US prospects don't go to college anymore. Most don't play for their high school teams anymore either.

College soccer has kind of become a purely beneficial add-on just making the pool deeper at ages 19-22, which are years when a lot of promising Europeans are getting dumped out of academies and hanging up their boots.

Everything you're using to debate relies upon gut feeling and refusing aspects that we do know.

Let's call it a day.

My main concern is that he gets a GENUINE chance to prove the angry mob wrong.

Such is the risk with young players; irrespective of nationality.
That's hilarious because the entire crux of the argument that this player was worth a £30m transfer fee and £8m preceding loan fee is to ignore everything we've seen thus far with our eyes and go on complete intangibles like his supposed "data".

Absolutely love to know what "data" that is because his FBREF page does not paint him in a favourable light in any regard by comparison to his compatriots in top 5 leagues.

Where it starts getting confusing is when there's an option that can become an obligation if certain parameters are met.

Kulusevski's transfer was a weird labyrinthine thing that way.

As is typical; the main confusion comes from conflicting reports of the terms.....

End outcome was that Kulu terms weren't triggered so the 35m obligation didn't kick in....... This allowed us to then re-negotiate a return at lower price.

If we didn't like that price we were able to still walk away.

The only ones that really make no sense is "options to buy" on players entering their last year..... Anyone with a brain would just decline the option at the end of the loan and then sign them as a free agent.

Fucking hell mate you can't be this stupid. It will be contractually agreed that they have to sign him, regardless of how he performs. How long he has left on a contract with us is immaterial, they are committing to buying him next summer if it is an obligation, that is how it works.
No it wont be... because you would have to be a fucking idiot to sign that contract especially when the player involved is a fucking dickhead... it will be a full purchase or a loan, no in between bollocks... put it this way, if he is at Galatasaray for the start of the 26/27 season then I'll accept I am wrong but for now another one for the ignore button... 👋

You may find it hilarious; but you've evidently lost focus of the contradictions I made.

Regardless; "Worth" is subjective.......... Incredibly so if we're merely talking about fan opinion being tossed about on the internet; but you will note I've not made a single estimation of his "worth" anyway.

You'd need to email Lange about that one.
