Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If you factor in injuries and lets ignore all the squad players and focus on the first team only.

We've lost Son, Maddison and Kulusvski.
We've signed Kudus and Palhinha.

How have we closed the gap? The squad is still pretty much the same and our season is solely dependent on avoiding an injury crisis.

We could buy a player and they get injured instantly.... Our two signings definitely make the squad stronger. Plus, if you are using the Maddison and Kulu injuries to say the gap is wider because they are not available, then surely the fact Bentancur is looking fully recovered finally from his inury last season, as is VDV, Odobert and Richarlison means that the GAP from last season is closing too. It HAS to work both ways.

Also, the 'gap' last year was very, very clearly extenuated by the Ange factor, so no one here has a clue what the gap is under Frank right now anyway.

Fair enough, so lets change "bin-off" for prioritise.
If I asked you to realistically prioritise the 4 competitions Spurs are in, how would you list them?

Me....
FA Cup
Top 4.
Carabo Cup.
CL.

And I don't think you can use Postecoglou as an example when he openly admitted to binning-off The League for The EL!

For me:

Carabao Cup ( finishes in Feb + Euro entry guaranteed)
Top 4
FA cup
CL ( though full effort to at least reach the play offs)

Prioritising the 'Top 4' Trophy is why Spurs never wins anything. Happy to be 2nd (or 4th) best. If your top priority is to win the Milk Cup, you might as well be Watford.

Winning CL should ALWAYS be the top priority. Spurs aren't here to say 'Great we qualified. Now let's bin it off and qualify for next year' - what's the point? Qualify for a competition, and don't even try and win it. That is precisely the attitude of Levy and the board.

Two league games into the season and you are talking as if our injury prone players are unlikely to break down again . Players who are injury prone tend to get injured , it’s why they are injury prone

This squad isn't capable of winning the prem or cl and prioritising them will land you with an 8th to 5th place finish and no trophies.

FA Cup all the way

Well, if you really believe we can win The CL in Franks first season, with our current squad, I tip my hat to you whilst calling for a doctor.

The gimps on SC are actually spending pages and pages talking about how we have a chance of Simons because Chelsea won’t be able to sign him and Garnacho due to their financial transfer balance being negative with UEFA.

They are setting themselves up for massive disappointment. As if Chelsea don’t know what they are doing. They have whole departments of finance professionals working away, I am sure they know exactly what they are doing and will exploit any angle they can to make sure they end the window with all the players they want. It always works out for them. The idea the SC know more than Chelsea football club about their own transfer dealings is laughable.

They are fucking idiots and a bunch of wet wipes on there. SC, not the chavs.

boring...
