Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

First I heard of what, but yeh..... You're prepared to (in theory) only pick 2 GKs then chucking one of the kids on a plane is no more of a gamble than if the rules allowed only for 2.

BJ can play both sides and will be mega useful even if we get another LW.... Esp. with Kulu not in the CL squad. No way I would not have BJ in the CL quad.

As for the names linked?

Sav
Rogers
Lookman

I'd expect 'output' from all 3 in one form or another........ Less confident about Tel/Odo in that respect.

Are you seriously expecting Kinsky to not be in our CL plans? I am willing to bet you he will be in the CL squad.

BJ can play both sides but Frank has started him LW in both games and he's scored twice.

Rogers? 90m in transfer fee and another 10m per year in wages for 6 years? Let's talk about that when it happens but we just signed a 10 and Kulusevski will eventually come back and be one of the leaders in this squad.

The other 2 aren't replacing the 20 ish goals that you get from Johnson and we have other players who will do most of our creative work.

Look, maybe I'm wrong (it happens a lot) but logically with a few days left in the window, i can't see the plan being another attacking player really.

He really isn't. Compare him to truly elite wide forwards like Mané, Salah. Even last season he was 18th for XG90 of players with 1000+ minutes. Obviously some of those were CF's but even most of them clocked better creative and team X-build up numbers than he did playing as a wide CF. he even managed to underscore his fairly meagre 11.16 XG.
Sigh...

25 goals 18 assists since he arrived.

We get it. He's not pretty (as a footballer) but he does what he needs to do as an attacker.

When he stops putting up numbers, he'll be moved on. But he just doesn't seem to stop putting up numbers 🤷‍♂️

Scored 11 goals in the league from 10.4 XG.

Not saying you're of this position whatsoever but the constant 'Postecoglu set his team up to get Johnson back post tap ins' nonces on this forum are so boring. Maybe someone who's blatantly got a very good knack of finding his way into goalscoring positions who scores slightly more goals than he should relative to the chances maybe a pretty handy player in a better more organised team?

It's not a prediction.... It was a discussion about what could be done if the desire is to still add more players.

BJ isn't getting 20 CL goals....... And I've not said about banishing him in any way.

Again...... I didn't reply making predictions.

I responded to the dudes tweet about assigning players between domestic & CL squads.... I'm not up for a spiralling 10-pronged debate & prediction fest.

More importantly he now has a song that everyone in the crowd knows and easily can chant. That makes him a starter in my book :D

I didn't say anything about xG or being Mane or Salah. I said he's really really good at timing movements into a scoring position. You add Simons into the mix and he gets even more opportunities to make those runs and finish.

25 goal involvements for the season isn't an unreasonable target. We aren't signing a LW who guarrantees us more than that.

Any more than Johnson guarantees that. So far he's managed 15 and 14 goal involvements respectively in the league in his first two seasons.

Is this it?

Johnson Richarlison Kudus
Odobert Solanke Tel

Xavi Sarr Palhinha
Bergvall Bentancur Gray

Udogie van de Ven Romero Porro
Danso Dragusin Spence

Vicario, Kinsky, Austin

Takai, Davies, Maddison, Kulusevski

Sure but Kinsky being moved out of the CL squad is a non-starter from a logical perspective. We both know it won't happen.

Ok fair point if you take the debate literally on just the CL squad. I don't know how many CL goals from Johnson a new LW would need to replace but if you are signing a LW who is worth having, it's Johnson's spot they need to take, not Tel/Odobert and none of the names linked are giving you the goal output we need from Johnson.... IMO.

But his tweet does highlight why it's unlikely the club add another attcking player because of the squad construction atm. If Richy was leaving then maybe but he is staying so...

Did it for Steve Cooper in a very different tactical setup too, and now showing it yet again on the opposite flank under Frank.

Besides; it's not like he doesn't look like continuing to score under the new manager is it?

Long may he keep scoring. From off the bench
Yeah, it's not going to suit well with people if Xavi does a wonder run, puts in a wonder cross, but it all amounts to nothing as Johnson is putting zero effort to get himself back onside, and is caught offside.

Johnson has seriously got to get his together, if he wants to be a part of the future.

Hopefully, signings like Xavi, Kudus, will give him the kick up the arse he needs.

He has the talent, but he needs to give it all every game, for 90 mins.

Again... It's not about predictions. I'm simply saying that IF we wanted to fit another MF or attacker I'd consider cutting either Kinski or one of Tel/Odo..... Kinski aside it's not like the other two are unfathomably proven commodities is it.

We're talking about squad CL spots tho; not who deserves the starting positions the most...... Anyway; BJ or Kudus might cool off and all of a sudden starts are up for grabs. Either way the aim is best quality depth possible (*).

(*Odd that I'm finding myself saying that to x after you mocking my reasoning about why I didn't see Hincapie as high priority, but hey ho............)

Again "likelyhood" is just a byword for "prediction" in this context.... I didn't chime in with a crystal ball.
