Because his transfer committee and this forum bang on about 'JUST PAY IT' out of desperation, so we end up paying well over the odds for a player below the standard we require, time and time again.

We have a squad full of garbage we can't shift that when signed, mostly were seen as exciting purchases with stunning 2 minute youtube clips.

If a player won’t move there’s not a lot you can do about it, beyond saying they won’t get much playing time and hope they value their career enough to move. Look how players have refused to sign new deals, ran their contract down and then left on a free. It’s not something specific to us.

There are employment rules you have to abide by which means you can’t be seen to marginalise them unfairly long term.
