Second tier cup, my dog's hole.

If it were down to me I'd make it a perma-bannable offence to belittle our European glory. As it is, I'll just have to use the block function. Now away with you.

well played and thoroughly agree... only modern fans who don't realise the history of the UEFA cup call it second rate because to them, the media driven finishing 4th has always been better than the fan driven lifting silverware. I got no joy finishing 2nd or 4th but watching my 18 year son experience first hand Spurs lifting a trophy and visibly struggling to contain the tears of joy will forever trump any 2nd, 3rd or 4th place finish.

I rest my case. Extremely proud of winning a second tier cup while loosing 22 League games. It is definitely more rewarding to win 6 or 7 Europa cup games and lose 22 League games that to win 20 league games and 6 or 7 Champions League Games, and lose 4 league games.

I Bet you are Whiz at Math.
WTAF has losing games in a domestic competition go to do with winning a European trophy 🏆?

Why would any Spurs fan use the winning of any trophy (never mind the biggest trophy we have ever won) as a weapon 🤔 to mock and denigrate?

So what if it's second to the CL we haven't won that either ffs!

You like a bit of Math hey what? Try this one for size....out of the 25 times the EL has been competed for only 8 times has the team dropping down from the CL been successful which kills stone dead the idea that the comp has in any way become weaker.

In any case it was never (imo) right that the 3rd placed CL teams could drop down to benefit from failure since the new format in both comps has put paid to it happening by removing the groups format.

The imbalance is simple business though. The Prem has the money simultaneously because English is lingua franca of the world, and also because huge amounts of time has been spent promoting it worldwide. What’s the league supposed to do? Donate money to La Liga, Ligue Un, the Bundesliga and Serie A?

The smaller teams in those leagues should have more of an issue that their TV rights, whilst smaller already, all get swallowed up by the likes of Real, Barca etc. Go look at the La Liga TV money especially for a quick laugh. If the same were done here the top 4-6 each season would make £300m a season and the bottom 3-5 would make like £50m.

At the end of the day this is a capitalist sport. Those clubs outgrew their leagues because they had the most money and got all the benefits that come with that. Now they wanna cry because they can’t just have the pickings of any team in their country, as well as the very best Prem players. It’s pathetic.
All good points. I don’t have a way to fix it.

Even though it is a capitalist sport, capitalism fails without regulation as the wealthy just have an easier path to more wealth and eventually the inequality can’t be overcome.

The PSR rules by UEFA are a start and at least they are limiting teams like Villa and Chelsea, who are trying to buy success without the revenue to sustain it.

How many have signed, 4? Kudus, Palinho, Xavi Simons and Randal of PSG on loan. Have I missed anyone?

What position do Xavi and Randal play?

TIA

Then we shouldn’t have sacked him after caving in to his recruitment demands

In retrospect, spunking near 150m on Sessegnon, Lo Celso, and Ndombele is a sackable offence in its own right.

But there wasn't a timeline where hanging on to Poch any longer was going to change a thing. You could tell the club wanted it to work out but it was going the exact same way as Ange, minus actually winning something - team looking hopeless week in week out.

Still think it was a mistake to sack Poch.

Should have committed to the rebuild. Instead they longed it out with Jose and Conte.

Ange probably did more than anyone to accelerate the rebuild because he was willing to work with teenagers.

I can agree that even if we owe him big time for the EL and minutes given to kids last year, it was time for Ange to go but I still think sacking Poch for Jose was Levy’s hubris.

Grow up big baby 👶..its just an opinion, just because levy bought you some some shiny new players to suck off, that doesn't mean that he and the club should get away with again leaving us short...
We signed 2 players on loan, I'm assuming so we had more money to actually spend to fill the squad out...but no they fucked that up again...
Round and round in circles every transfer window..
We have needed a backup left back for about 3 seasons now, and a decent left sided player was obvious as soon as son left.
Mark my words, we are one or two injuries away from being in the shit again and struggling to ply 2 games a week...
But you just blindly follow and love what they do, which is the same shit every window...
We buy the bare minimum and never actually take a step forward, we just stay where we are, getting left behind year after year..not so long ago we finished above Woolwich for i think it was 5 seasons..well they fought back and acted like a big cub and look where they are, whilst we were happy to barely be above them and that was enough.

Too long didn’t read.

Look where they are? Trophyless?

Dumbass.

I think at the time he did what a lot of us were thinking, quite rightly - that squad was good enough to win things, and should have. Every final was bodged in one way or another.

The misfortune with Jose was him coming in just prior to a huge once-in-a-century like event that meant we couldn't really push on, having been crippled by the financial impact shite 2019 summer signings, coupled with the economic impact of no crowds in a big new stadium.

In a timeline without COVID, we'd have been such a different team under Jose.

I think a start for smaller teams on the continent would be to demand a fairer split of their TV money. All the lopsidedness kills their long term hopes of finding and keeping good players, and in the long term, the quality of the league declines.

I doubt it. And how many will Salah score? Isak might score much but that will have to come at the expense of others like Salah and Gakpo. If Isak scores 20+ goals in the Premier League that would be a beyond-world amazing season for him. Again, I vvveeeeery highly doubt it. He barely scored that much at Newcastle where he was on the receiving end of every Newcastle ball that entered the opposition box. Took penalties and was their be all and end all. At Liverpool he will be just another brick in the wall.

I don’t know if you are genuinely smoking crack but he scored 23 league goals last season, and 21 the season before. 54 league goals in 80 odd appearances.

This is the weirdest vendetta I’ve seen in some time.
