Good question. But Levy did say that preliminary discussions had taken place about selling a stake. Yet it wasn't associated with all the legalese accompanying last night's statement. A lawyer could explain this to us.
They also said the club's not for sale.

Doesn’t change my opinion one iota. If the correct sized bid is made they will sell.
The deadline for a formal bid to be made is a ‘shit or get off the pot’ statement IMHO.

Do we know anything about legacy plans? Joe is going to peg out in the not too distant future, does the next generation have an expressed idea what they want?
Yeah I listened to what Simon Jordan said but as long as the Lewis family got what they wanted for their share in the club, if a sale occurred, what Levy does with his share, or what he does with his future, surely has no impact on them.
He may have been seen as a hindrance to sale, especially if he was looking to stay on as chairman.
Most buyers would want to install their own choice as chairman.
I think the inference is that Levy was trying to instigate a minority sale/investment using HIS shares, whilst still staying on and having day to day control of the club.
Obviously if ENIC sold up, they wouldn't give a fuck what Daniel does.

One way or another, this was takeover related.
i still think it's unlikely levy acted against the wishes of enic and lewis. the man is a company man through and through. drama sells papers and gets clicks. the idea that makes the most sense to me is we're trying to go up a level to grow the asset and levy is not the person to head this next step.

Quite right, speculation alone isn't enough to trigger a response. Actual bids as per the 2 reported rejected ones are a different matter.
It would probably lower the number of interested parties and therefore the price achievable....

Baldy was only part of the problem and the ENIC statement post his removal is nothing more than titbits for the gullible.
A good indication of their intentions was the timing of their actions....right after the TW closed?
Unless they sell up it will be more of the same journey on the gravy train
with a different driver.
