I'm still struggling with "ELI5".

:porrohands:

17th was an absolute disaster (in football terms) for a club of our size, with our wealth and our global fanbase. Unforgivable,

That alone justified Levy's dismissal, with or without the European trophy, and is also a key indicator that years of frugal chairmanship and cost cutting and wage butchering was playing havoc with our performance on the pitch.

Had Levy stayed around, I'm pretty certain United would be consistently challenging at the right end before us.

Whichever way you look at it, wether you were Levy in or Levy out, he had become a hugely divisive figure and there's no way those divisions were going to heal with him still at the helm.

Look. You and I are talking amicably for the first time in years....It's no coincidence.

For years people wanted him out for not being able to get this club over the line and our trophy drought and now our league placing is the reason he had to do haha :)

I will always remember Levy for;

Taking away club membership, (merchandise discount), from season ticket holders.

Taking away cup matches, one by one, from season ticket entitlement.

Introducing a season ticket waiting list, while increasing the price of season tickets, and reducing the aforementioned benefits of being a THFC season ticket holder, while the THFC Supporters Trust, created under Levy's stewardship, watched from a safe distance and said nothing.

Removing senior citizen concession prices from loyal, long standing THFC supporters, many of whom had endured all of the above.

Introducing Category A,B, and C prices for 'Premier League' home matches.

Exposing all THFC supporters to Stubhub. Some became ticket pimps for the miser; some got ripped off.

Failing to increase the WHL capacity, from around 36,000, for around 18 years, despite the result of the clubs own internal review, during 2001, stating THFC needed to achieve an increase to at least 44,000, along with regular Champions League football, within 5 years.

The sacking of George Graham before an F.A. Cup semi final against Woolwich.

The failure to retain Campbell.

Rivaldo's letter.

The signing of Toda.

The sacking of Hoddle.

The subsequent Pleat caretaker period of 03 / 04.

The sale of Carrick.

The failure to retain Frank Arnesen.

The sacking of Jol.

The sale of Berbatov, Defoe and Keane.

The loan signing of Fraser Campbell.

The Ryan Nelson / Louis Saha window.

The sacking of Harry Redknapp.

The appointment of AVB.

The sale of Bale and Modric.

The 'Magnificent 7'

Franco Baldini.

Paul Mitchell's gardening leave.

The barren Poch transfer windows.

The demolition of WHL.

The sacking of Poch.

The hiring of Jose.

The failed European Superleague debacle.

The failure to appoint Conte.

The hiring and sacking of Nuno.

The cap in hand appointment of Conte.

The failure to sign Milan Skrinier.

The sacking of Conte.

Ange Postecoglu.

The sale of Harry Kane.

The best paid and longest serving Premier League chairman in history.

One of the 250 richest people in the U.K. in 2025.
Impressive hate-list!!

Was just thinking, will the cunt-offs be down to a minimum now that Levy's gone?!

:gallashmm:

George Costanza No GIF

Wait until 8pm on Saturday if we lose, there's always a cunt off around the corner.

It will be interesting to see who this fanbase take their frustrations out on though, my thoughts on what threads will be bumped:

Tel - New scapegoat
Johnson Old scapegoat
If neither of them play it will be Frank especially if Ange starts well and his team are cooking
Ange thread will be active blaming him for the mess of the squad he left us with and the mental disorder he put the players though with the 22 losses last season.

Can't see Vinai out taking off, just doesn't sound right and he's a newbee anyway!

ENIC thread will be active during January but the Levy out lot will be sympathetic to them even though they still remain at the club, bizarrely!

I'm still struggling with "ELI5".

:porrohands:

So the poster used the term EL15 alongside “logic and reason”.

So let’s go there. Deep dive this motherfucker!!

Logically we are on a football forum. EL could stand for europa league. 15. The year 2015.

In 2015 we were knocked out of the europa league by fiorentina. Salah scoring a goal for the Italians.

Meanwhile we had Roberto Soldado upfront.

So logically the poster is blaming levy for not signing Salah and instead wasting money on soldado.
A bit like the saying it’s all gone Pete Tong.

He refers to “EL15” whenever he wants to remember just how much Levy ballsed up our transfers on a regular basis.

I’d pat myself on the back but my old dislocated shoulder injury is giving me grief. This GIF will do instead.

the cuntface wankstain bastard inept moron destroyed the shelf

maybe before your time

the sooper dooper property developer (aka in the right place at the right time and thinks he knows it all) managed to make such a ricket on the stadium that we had to sell Waddle just as Lineker was arriving

I'd rip that cunts head off and shit down his throat once I'd ripped his fingernails out and stuffed his balls into his empty eye sockets. Once he'd been roasted on a slow fire for a few days.

Oh no, I'm aware - the Wale/Richardson ownership did, I think, try to rip it out first but the council blocked it, then Scholar took advantage of their debt and decided he could 'do better'. As much as people might want to misappropriate the Scholar years as "young guy comes in with new ideas and financial ambition", it was somewhat comparable to Moshiri's effect on Everton - just a clown show really.
I don't want to come across as reducing the on-field accomplishments of the 80s, but it really was a different level of competition to what we've seen since Abramovich/Qatar/Saudi money came into the game in the mid-00s onwards.

Due to the way that the PL has always kind of locked-in the Top 5-6 teams qualifying for europe on the financial train, his bodge of the stadium and the effect on the way transfers and team building was done set us so far back. Equal blame on Sugar for just being totally inept on the transfer side. I also have to acknowledge that Heysel did a lot of damage to Everton/Spurs around that time, but I have nothing positive to attribute to Irving Scholar - and yet people reminisce about the 80s as if it was better in some ways. Levy has been a far better chairman that anything we've had since at least the 70s, despite his obvious flaws but I think in time there will hopefully be some perspective about what we've managed to do in this century, even if it hasn't yielded much silverwear.

I'm 100% convinced you're being sarcastic/facetious, but for the benefit of the audience I would expect to have to explain the history of the club more if it was reddit or a general forum - not on a spurs forum.

As ever, John Thomas never misses the opportunity to farm out some karma for anything toxic though

Surely you agree with the bolded paragraph, which essentially is the crux of the issue anyway?

To be fair, you're usually the one who bumps the Levy / ENIC thread

Any time someone is having a dig at someone you have a beef with, it's guaranteed your name will be on the "funny" or "agree" list - regardless of what is being said.
Jesus you need to stop taking this stuff to your soul. You sound unwell. Why the fuck do you care? 'Agrees and funnies' WTF. The only people I permanently block are the ones who seem to have had their identity subsumed by their relationship with strangers on line. You are giving these nascent vibes.

Definitely a few posters here who live their lives online and can’t survive without it. Easy to spot them too..

It's the way they talk. It's like its not actually about Spurs the club and their love for it or personal relationship with it. Its about 'owning people' winning some invisible online laurels. I get we all ultimately come with our own perspective but I genuinely only post to hear what people who honestly share my life long ongoing affection for Spurs think.
This
I want to hear Nutters stories and Mrs P and Archibald Crooks talk about Sarr or Romero and Son. Sometimes I tease them or disagree but I know 100% they are hooked on the badge cockrel and history. That's all I'm here for. I have huge suspicions about some very vocal participants on this forum and what they are doing here.
