Porro . . .Romero . . . van de Ven . . . Spence

This, surely. Sarr, Bergvall and Palhinha are all interchangeable. And Frank sees Tel and Xavi as interchangeable too. Tel is a big surprise.

Porro and Romero are liabilities in my opinion.
Strange tellme used to say just the same, also Palhinha is not interchangeable.

No problem in my eyes at Tel starting at striker.

He's coming off the back of two goals, confidence will likely be as high as it has been for a while and if it doesn't work out, we've got Muani/Richarlison who can come off the bench and make an impact.

He deserves an opportunity in this position and it'll benefit all of us if he does well. Particularly as we clearly can't rely on Solanke or Richy to stay injury free or consistent.

Yup, plus he is not registered on CL so Frank is giving him chance.
I wouldn't describe that as giving him a chance. I don't think that is how top managers think. And I also don't think that this is a sort of a game in which Tel is given "a chance." And giving him a chance implies he will either take it or not take it. Which is very false.

Frank has a young player who is in form as he scored 2 goals and he wants to play him with a hope of getting him to score a goal or two. Then to go on from that momentum. I think that's what Frank's thinking. He's working on that momentum. Plus, Frank was clearly displeased with the Bournemouth showing. If Kolo Muani is not fully fit then it is understandable he opted for Tel.

And Frank is probably stirring up competition. "No Champions League for you. But you do get a start. SHOW ME I MADE A MISTAKE."

ps But you could say that this is a huge chance for Tel to assert himself and take over the Number 9 spot over Kolo Muani if he were to score a couple of goals or make a hat-trick.* But it is not him being given "a chance" implying that if he doesn't do it he will get no other chances. It doesn't quite work like that. Frank will sure several times give such chances and opportunities to strikers. Trying to get them hot. That's what managers do. They manage such things. Trying to get players hot and playing well, and then keeping them hot and playing well.

* This is the sort of stuff that strikers like Tel think. This is how they think and what they visualize. Especially young strikers who are full of themselves and are told they possess great talent. That's the world they're in. All great strikers are such and all young and promising strikers are such. But not all young and promising strikers live up to becoming great strikers. That is rare. And good and great managers want to tap into that, which is what Frank is trying to do.

Personally I think it's the wrong match to start a guy whose confidence is absolutely shot
After his performance for France U-21s I would hope he's feeling more confident. I get the criticism and concerns but I do think it's premature.

Let's get behind the lad. I'm sure you and most of us will do when he's on the pitch.

*If he scores three own goals and gets sent off after 30 mins I immediately retract this statement

Richarlison came back from Brazil 48 hours ago and Muani hasn’t played a competitive game since the Club World Cup.

Tel actually picks himself. It’s not the big call some people are saying. Would actually be devastating if he couldn’t get in ahead of the other two given their condition.

tel up front is better than tel out wide thats for sure......at least youd hope so, if its not then god help him. but he doesnt look like a winger at all, he looks awkward as fuck out wide, not got the finesse for it.
