Competition Are we playing for 5th ?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

So +4 playing same team, and +5 playing same game - is that correct ?
I'm glad I'm not the only one.

I still think we are hovering around the 5-7th but with potential to do better than than, maybe 3rd-6th with this squad is the maximum.

I worry alot about the games against teams in and around us, the modtable teams. Brighton next weekend will tell us a hell of a lot.

Could do with 1 more match winner but we have alot of potential for growth in this team so I expect of quality of football to get better as the season goes on.

Finishing fifth in his first season and maintaining European football should be seen as success in Frank's first season.

I would add, that I think we now have strength in depth to have a good run on one of the domestic Cups.

No way of proving either way tbf but from where I was sitting/standing the ref had very little to do with us being second best and I'm more inclined to accept the vitriol was directed at our players by the alcohol fuelled contingent within the stadium.

We were comprehensively outplayed, but the ref was terrible.
Should have sent Samenyo off. Gave them every single free kick he could whilst not giving us a thing. Allowed them all the timewasting they could muster up.
In the 2nd half, one of their players faked being caught in the face and went down. Ref knew it and gave us the free kick. Didn't book the Bournemouth player though. AND let him lay on the floor, on the pitch, near the line, for ages.
In block 530, there was constant animosity for the ref throughout the whole game.

and the middle scores column? some sort of aggregate? I can't figure it out (I'm tired). The city game particularly doesn't make sense.
The top row starts with newly promoted Burnley, who replace relegated Ipswich.
+/- indicates the comparison with last season. Against Ipswich last season we lost. So this win means we are +3 points "same" teams.
Same game Leicester we drew 1-1 so we are +2 same games.

If he by christmas, with some playing time, turns out to be a better keeper than Vicario it's hardly pointless

Kinsky is far off the level of Vicario in everything apart from kicking a ball which Vicario is improving at.

Vic is one of the leaders in this team, no way he's being dropped for Kinsky anytime soon and neither should he.

Perhaps the beer is weaker up there Matt...refs are the usual suspects for blame and Hooper's performance on the day made him an easy target.

Doesn't alter the fact we were outplayed though and fortunate (imo) to only lose by the one goal. After they scored in the first 5 minutes we huffed and puffed for rest of the game during which they had the more clear cut chances and probably should have bagged another 2.

Sometimes you simply have to hold your hands up and accept the opponents were better. I'm on level 2 in the Sarf and there was a quite a lot of frustrated vitriol directed at our players from inebriated non regulars during the game so I am left with no misapprehension as to who they were showing displeasure.

We will have to go some to repeat last year's next 4 results, 3 wins and a loss.
Despite all the Captain Hindsights on here, I thought we were playing great football, too. 22 goals in 10 games.

I'd aim for the EL place. I'd take another run at a winnable trophy.

Fifth could or couldnt get CL of course. Depends on how all the English clubs do. We want to be cheering on all the English teams (apart from the scum and chavs) to get into the knock out rounds.

I don't drink and I do strongly believe this ends up with 2 different views on a lot of matches.
I fully support the fact Bournemouth were by far the better side. But they did get help.
It's hard to know how that game would have gone if the ref didn't let them get away with a lot more than he let us with. How would they have coped with 10 men having had by far their best player sent off inside the hour mark?
How would our players have played knowing that every touch they laid on an oppo player wouldn't have been a definite free kick.

It was definitely a par of their tactics as well as the actual footballing ones. They went down a lot. They won a lot of those free kicks. It was quite obvious from where I sit. Maybe we need to play those teams at their own game more?

Whilst we still have a 'Bournemouth' in us on any given week, I'd say 6th/7th is more realistic....

But there's no reason we can't challenge for 6th-4th and be more than happy with 5th in Frank's first season.

Going by this our rivals have lost more than us and have had their 'Bournemouth' on more than one occasion, so if we finish 6th/7th who is finishing above us?
