I don't know anything about Boro last season but I see they sacked Carrick after finishing 10th. No idea if that was reasonable or stupidly harsh but surely he won't be out of work long.

Boro are just the latest team to shoot themselves in the foot - you have to have lightning in a bottle, a PL ready squad (recent relegation), or invest big to get into the PL. Clubs like Boro get a class manager, get into the play-offs without much of the above, and then get impatient with a manager if they don't get them promoted.
Next thing you know, they're rattling through Wilders and Mowbrays and flirting with League One.
I think we will get top 4 with Frank and some trophies for sure. The way we play is so much better. Night and day from previous managers.
I think the more defensive style is a result of the personel Frank has available right now. Attacking creativity comes from the creative midfielders and tricky wingers, which we don't have in full flight on the pitch yet.
Going forward I see our midfield being anchored by Palinha with Sarr and/or Bergvall and one or both of Maddison/Xavi. I don't see Bentancour as a first choice midfielder in the second half of the season as Sarr and Bergvall will continue to grow and overtake him as a first choice midfeilder. Good problem to have though.

It's genuinely hillarous the handbrake turn we have done from vibes FC under Postecoglou "I dont belive in practicing set peices, I don't care about clean sheets, I dont care about derbies, I dont want us to win fouls." To the focused details matter mantra of Frank Castle. I mean its mad from Jedinak to Cochrane.
I know people are still grieving the personality cult of Ange but the former is not a sustainable path to long term success. If we buy well in the next two windows push for Semenyo, Baleba, Bowen. I think we can fight for the title.

I defended Ange when he was our manager. He’s not anymore so nothing to defend.
I’m really enjoying the maturity of the team under Frank and set pieces are winning us points so bring it on.
It’s worth remembering though, that nobody was on Ange’s case yet after 4 games of his Spurs career and everyone was saying what a breath of fresh air it was after Conte.
We can’t really keep doing this wild swing to “it’ll be different this time” for every new coach. They all have their strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully, this is the one that has enough balance to their approach that he sticks around long term. It definitely feels like Frank could be the one. We seem much more measured and never too high and never too low.
Agree. I was 100pc in on his appointment. I think - if we get recruitment right - we are at the start of a golden age for Tottenham
Hmmm … it really isn’t about whether the coach wants to stick around long enough. Unless he is very very good. Which Frank may well be. How many of our coaches have been poached while at Spurs ?
It’s definitely about whether they can get the results to stick around and if the fanbase has the patience for them to stick around even during a rough patch.
Thing with the last few personality coaches is that they had strong philosophical ideas that required buy in from fans and players. When the results go, we’ve seen the fans repeatedly turn on those types of coaches and then the club reacts and swings to the polar opposite philosophy.

- the manager has a track record that suggests he can be elite (TF does Ange didn’t, for example)
And
- the is clear underlying progress and what the manager is saying and doing makes sense. None of which was true with Ange. Which is why fans rightly turned on him

It wasn’t taken personally mate. I was just saying how I see it. I don’t really get why anyone would still be defending a coach who is now employed by a rival.
Then again, there are people on here who won’t hear a bad word about Conte or Poch. Pretty much everyone hates Jose though
Meh, it will still come down to results. Always does.
There’s no such thing as clear underlying progress when results are shit. If you don’t win, it’s then a game of opinions and whatever the club uses for KPIs.
Great example being Amorim. There are United fans who are convinced that they are seeing signs of progress and there’s probably a fair few who say his track record shows he can be elite.
There’s plenty others who don’t see any of that and want him gone. If he loses the next two matches, he will be gone regardless
