Match Spurs v Bodo/Glimt (A) - Champions League - Tues 30th Sept - KO: 8pm

I acknowledged its difficulty.

We should however be going into the match with confidence, and given our considerable resources have the players and coaching staff, not to see the game as one where we need to set up a rear guard action.

I like Frank from what I have seen, and I am sure with better to come. My singular concern might be his relatively cautious approach, compare to let's say a Silva.

So, no I don't think on reflection, as indicated previously that we can just swot Bodo aside, but I do think we need to demonstrate why we are called a 'big club'

Tenacity and being combative, and then clinical and high levels of concentration. Crucially, and something this club continually struggle with - no gifts.
Bodo are crap. Ange smashed this lot up and he was a terrible coach. Anything other than a comfortable will be yet another shit result.

I just think we need to play to our optimum, and then it should be good enough.

The lack of Solanke, who really has been a poor signing in many respects, is problematic, because his physicality and general hold-ip play would alleviate some pressure.

And it's the likelihood of us not being able to keep Bodo at bay that I see as being pivotal.

That need to have better strikers becomes more and more clear each week.

Romero has a slight injury so misses tonight, probably Leeds game as well. International break next week. That sounds familiar. If he is fit for Leeds I’d play Danso ahead of him as he makes no bloody effort before an international break. This is our captain for Gods sake.

A thousand thank yous for not incorrectly using the term pragmatic here, seems to be the go to word for most when what they really mean is this.

And I agree 100% right now, I'm hoping it's just an initial approach whilst he works on getting the team solid, but over time he really needs to begin to use a 4231 in home games to the likes of Wolves and even Bournemouth, the 433 with Simons on the wing is more cautious than should be necessary and cedes a lot of impetus when we should be aiming to overwhelm these sides.

Spurs UI19's 3-0 ahead v Bodo U19's at half time despite leaving Jun'ai Byfield, Luca Willliams-Barnett and Tynan Thompson on bench for first half - expect those 3 players to be on bench tonight.

Bodø beat Sturm Graz 5-0 at home in the 1st leg play off, and lost 2-1 in the second leg CL play off.
Drew 2-2 with Slavia Praha in the first CL proper game this season
In the Eliteserien this season, Bodø/Glimt has scored 59 goals and conceded 20 in (so far) 22 matches, giving an average of ~2.68 scored and ~0.91 conceded per game.
They've a few injuries - Ola Brynhildsen (knee), Ulrik Saltnes (illness), Ole Blomberg (thigh), and Brede Moe (knock) all listed as injured. Saltnes probably being the best of those out.
Take Patrick Berg and Hauge out the game and thats a lot of their danger limited.

They are not a bad side at home. But we should be, and expect, to put them away regardless.

Looking forward to watching us in full lillywhite tonight.

Hmm, actually its bit tricky to pick side for today. Because of internal reasons, Bodo is garbage team and easy opposition. Even last year was 3 levels below us when we were unorganized mess.

So I'd like to see -

--------------Kinsky---------------
Porro-Romero-Danso-Spence
-----Palhinha---Gray------------
---Kudus--Xavi--Odobert----
-----------Richie----------------

Palhinha is hitting very good form now. Let him keep playing. He can start both - current game and then Leeds to, if score permits maybe don't have to play 90.
Gray has earned chance to start in midfield and let Sarr get fully fit before starting vs Leeds.
Would not start Richie but... we don't have anyone else... so. Everything else is self explanatory.

Romero didn't travel. Other than that I pretty much agree with your team. I might protect Palinha a bit as he wasn't fully fit to start the season and has played a lot of games already.

Porro Danso VDV Spence
Bentancur Gray

Kudus Richy Odobert

Really looking forward to this game. Something satisfying about minnow crushing. Let's leave their fans sobbing into their seal blubber pudding.

For those interested, u19's final score was a 6-0 win - with Byfield, LWB and Thompson (who scored this morning) playing last 30 mins on match, so likely to make the first team bench this evening.

I just hope that while Frank may talk caution abd respect, that he also talks bold and aggressive.

Black Kit Tonight and the goalie wil be in pink.

I know it's designed to address the super league threat, but this format is really fucking stupid.

This, VAR, FIFA, Michael Owen on commentary... it's like the powers at be are determined to remove fun from football.

Hilarious people trying to big up Bodo like they did last year.

Even with Ange's awful side we comfortably saw them off.

Anything less than a win is a bad result.

Couldn't agree more... those bigging up Bodo are making early excuses for Frank. We should beat this lot comfortably such is the gulf in everything about these two clubs. Anything less is another shit result.
Of course you should with all the billions spent on your squad. Like most english clubs these days you appoint a new coach and throw him away when the players are fed up. Most managers are not allowed to work properly in the "Money League" that it has become. Today you will face a team with 9 norwegians (most likely) in the starting line up. They have worked over years and actually got into the biggest tournament. There are norwegians in the stands, and in the team. That is something to respect in my book. I wish football was like that in England still. But it is not. It's a disgrace what it has become.
