I mean, that's a terrible barometer.
Michael Ricketts, Zat Knight, Francis Jeffers, useless players with caps.
Phil Jagielka - 40 caps. 40! That's more than Michael Carrick.
Chris Smalling 31 caps.
Kalvin Phillips - 31!
Kieran Gibbs 10 caps
Kobbie Mainoo, who IMO is very average and only got picked because Man United, 10 caps.
Then flip it on its head.
Andy Cole, one of the most prolific English forwards of his era. 15 caps.
Steve Bruce, captain of Man United with over 300 games & 9 major honors - not a single cap, ever.
Arguably 53 caps for Glenn Hoddle was criminal.
It used to mean something when you had 5 subs on the bench and only 3 changes per match.
Now they have 11 subs on the bench and up to 5 can come on.
Caps are worthless. If you're English and play for Man United, Spurs, Arse, Chelsea, City, Liverpool and one or two others, chances are, you'll get a few caps.
