I don't think it's too different, this was taken from 23/24 season, there's not a lot in it at all.

There's a misconception that Frank is a defensive coach who plays a deep line, his lines have mostly been average heights in the league, that's not the issue - it's the intention when we do have the ball and the risks we don't take.

Sidenote: People are talking about Glasner saying they would prefer him yet his Palace team sit with a much deeper line than most teams in the league and they let the other team have the ball, not sure our fans would stand for that.
I'm not sure what that table proves because I'd view Woolwich as one of the more defensive sides in the league. They set up with a back 4 that stay in position and 2 DMs who rarely take risks on the ball. They keep the ball, take little risks and often wait for set pieces. Given all the attacking talent they have, they take such little risks and create so little from open play. Yet by your metric they should be the most attacking team in the league? I wouldn't view it that way at all. And I feel like we are slowly starting to play just like them but without the same talent.

I think we're going too early on Frank's style, this isn't his end game...at least I hope it's not. :D
I agree. Its just there is no version of his Brentford team where I'd say "I hope we play like that". We need to see something from Frank which we've never seen before. But surely he gave his vision in his interviews with the club and he has an end game in mind which sees us playing front foot football at home

Completely disagree... I could say that if you continue to support the insipid bollocks being served up every week, then you need to look at yourself as a supporter... works both ways... and as the 9th richest football club in the world and 4th richest in the PL our expectations should be top 4 EVERY season... and at least one major final. If you think we are some mid table nothing club then I worry about you.
Its a balancing act mate. We can't just boo the team every week. There has to be some sort of acceptance that we are in transition and if we stick with this guy he might turn it around.

I totally get the frustration though. I booed the team after the Chelsea game and spent the night drunk telling everyone I wanted Frank gone. It took me days to calm down. The criticism is very fair on the home form. But I think we just have to stick it out another bit and hope we see some improvements.

Nah you're looking at this wrong mate, It's the average defensive line height, if you watch Woolwich they pretty much camp in the opponents half, which is why they manage to score so many corners because they force errors and they don't let teams out their own half.

Yeah i see what your saying. Its not pretty though. I think Frank is literally copying their style so far and sees that as his end game. Field tilt and all them data metrics. Take little risk in open play but give away little chances. Then try to squeeze the other team into their half and naturally chances will just fall from set pieces or throws. Its a very sustainable style of football but I refuse to call it attacking. Guess Frank is just going down that road

Who was your first choice to replace Ange?... Both realistic or otherwise. You swerved the question yesterday, even though I promptly answered yours 🤷‍♂️

Unrealistic was Klopp or Nagelsmann, Pep, Inzaghi...realistic was either Frank or Iraola.

We didn't have the unrealistic pool to choose from so we were left with the much of a muchness with the realistic ones.

77% here are Frank in.

Meanwhile Nottingham forest are on their 3rd manager in 3 months!! NFFC win that crown!!
we have had 25 managers in the last 50 years

1 for 6
1 for 5
2 for 4
3 for 3
all the rest 2 or less - so for 22 of those years we had 18 managers. As fans we wonder why we have had such a poor return in silverware.

Liverpool have had 10 managers in the same period and won 60 titles/silverware

I could be wrong but I think there's a strong link between success and settled management of football teams

And obscene levels of financial doping.

Nah, the Woolwich result won't have much bearing tbh

Naive.

It means everything and it will tell us where we are.

If Spurs get humped, and help them on their way to the title, Frank will be toast.

If Spurs won; Frank would be guarenteed the whole season.

If Spurs draw it will be perceived as a moral victory and will annoy Woolwich.

If Spurs lose by the odd goal, but put in a shift, Frank will be forgiven but on parole.

Only 3% want him out right now. This thread is very premature. Frank will get the season and then it'll be assessed properly
It'll be interesting to see how the poll changes / fluctuates over time though won't it.

It's lack of annominity also adds to the fun........as in... at what point do all the usual mouthy fucks giving it large and insulting others with a different opinion change their vote and finish up with egg all over their face as usual

That's what this sort of platform is all about.☺️

This is exactly what's Frank is another version of Arteta, he focuses on the small details like set pieces and high xg chances just like Arteta does and Frank wants the players to have total control and not chaos so it was always going to be like this in his early days.

'Attacking' is just a subjective term really, can be used in so many different ways.

A side note - Our club is slowly turning into them btw and understandably no-one wants to talk about it, Vinai, Adam Gardiner are former Woolwich and it wouldn't surprise me if you start noticing us doing what they were doing a few years ago in the lead up to the team they are now...whether you think it's a good thing because of how dominant they are or a bad thing because it's them, it's certainly an interesting few years ahead.

Not really sure why people are setting their expectations so high for Frank in his first season.

Sure it's been mentioned before but..

Alex Ferguson's first three seasons at United: 11th, 2nd, 11th
Jurgen Klopps first season at Liverpool (19 league games managed): 8th
Arteta's first two seasons at Woolwich: 8th, 8th

Think it's fair to say we can afford to give Frank a year at least before calling for his head..

We won’t spend 100m on a player though; there’s the difference.
