I think he's speaking bullshit personally, cowards way out of hiding behind that excuse especially after such a result, it's the first time we've heard it this season, why hasn't he said this before?
Dont think he was using it as an excuse as he stated in the post match interviews how awful we were.

regardless it's unacceptable to put in gutless performances against your rivals and he's done it twice now. We surrendered against Chavski and sounds like we did it again today.

Ange is currently being made to look like an imbecile by Sean Dyche.

Postecoglou taking the wrong job at the wrong time is a mark on his character and judgement for sure but I've never said he's not a egotist.

But anyone who took over from Nuno in that situation was going to fail. The players were never going to wear "the next guy". Now they have no option and are now playing to the level they should be.

Just like Frank walked into a bad situation having to take over from a manager whose players (rightly or wrongly) loved him for winning them something like he promised them.

He’s not the answer to anything,

I didn't say he was the answer. In fact I specifically stipulated otherwise.

My thesis was always simply this: the squad is not very good and it's likely Postecoglou has, if anything, overacheived in his time. 5th place and then a European Trophy is the very definition of that.

and things were significantly worse under him than they are under Frank.

This is simply not true and you must know it. We just suffered our worst humiliation vs that lot in a decade. We performed better last season with Dragusin and Gray at CB. You shouldn't demean yourself by saying stuff you know is simply factually incorrect. Every single metric is currently red-lining at Spurs - we can't defend and we can't make chances.

Everything I warned about has come true. It was always the squad and "not" the manager. You know this.

1) Almost none of us wanted Frank. I can remember maybe 1 poster stumping for him. Wanting Ange out and not wanting Frank are not mutually exclusive choices- it’s not at all inconsistent to not want either.

2) Throwing up your hands and saying “we can’t possibly have done or do better than Ange” is simply a lazy argument. You would have to presume that you know all possible inputs and all possible outcomes to be able to say something so far reaching.

You keep searching for the miracle manager who is going to turn mediocre into gold. This is the constant elusive fools gold.

Thomas Frank (when he first joined the club)
“I know the ethos and the history of the club is massive on attacking football, and there is so much attacking talent in the squad," said Frank. "I’m very, very big on principles and what we do in the final third in terms of creating chances.

“I always say this one-liner: if you don’t take risks, you also take risks. So it’s important we take risks. Risk is you need to play forward.

"If you don’t risk the ball, you can’t create things. We need to be brave."

StripiestPilot StripiestPilot at least he only said ''very very'' and not ''very very very''.

Admin Admin . Any chance of merging this with the main Frank thread (obviously keeping the poll)
Would save us all having to go back and forth between the two

Mourinho pragmatic as fuck and conte would have delivered if he was backed correctly but he got richarlison and a club signing in Spence. Conte was a selfish cunt but every single thing he said about the club was correct. He also had a passion that we haven’t seen since. His first season in charge was so exciting and felt like we were on our way and with the right backing we might well have been in a completely different place.
I think we will back Frank with signings and keep him but I don’t think he’s right for us.
Why would a manager come here? Very hard to succeed. The biggest draw here is probably the salary. Same for the players.

That’s why we are where we are.

Toney won't do anything unless we have players who can get him the ball.
And that is our biggest issue at present , by playing with that double pivot we have no link between the defense and the strikers . Has to be braver and find the solution , personally I would be getting Bergvall back into the 8 sooner than later , along with more time for Sarr , we seriously lack legs in the middle .
And never put Kudus in the middle again , looked lost .

He will be given the season, the board won't sack him

After that who knows what will happen, but until then it's going to be a long turgid season by the looks of it

the double pivot is absolutely killing us, it works if you have an elite passer in there, you can get away with one player who screens, the other needs to be a fucking player.

not sure why bergvall has been shunted out, hes one of the bright sparks at the club right now.

I’d suggest slagging off Frank for his repetitive language in interviews is as fucking idiotic as slagging off Ange for coughing and looking at the floor.

However, if you were the idiotic kind to take badly to Ange’s interviews, you’ve got very little defence of Frank.
If he talks to the players like ''very very very'' no wonder they don't take him seriously and play shit. It's a style of communication used to entertain children.

It's quotes like these that will lose the fans sitting on fence. Fans aren't fucking thick, we know what we are seeing and its not good.
Admit your mistakes and learn from them, that's your fucking job.
I think this is actually my biggest issue with Frank and what could be his downfall at a bigger club.

There was a behind the scenes thing at Brentford and it showed him and his staff talking through a game they played against Liverpool, and they continually focused on the positives despite Liverpool having a crazy number of shots and possession, because they stayed in the game for a decent period. Now that's OK at Brentford as they have a tiny budget and low expectations but I was hoping he'd level-up his expectations with the move to Spurs.

Alas, so far it looks like the bar of expectations is still exactly where it was at Brentford, if not lower. He's still looking for the positives in games where we're getting absolutely destroyed. I think that approach has diminishing returns the higher up the table you get as the fans and players have seen and known better - championing mediocrity inspires nobody.

I'm.still not totally convinced by his philosophy ( mainly because of the intensity and pressure his players have to play under for his plan to work, not sure it can be sustained at a bigger club playing twice a week) but Iraola seems to be the one manager out there who might offer a good strong defensive base along with a dynamic attacking play.

Frank was never here to bring glory to Spurs. He is supposed to be a safe pair of hands as we try to navigate out of the Postecoglu and Levy shitshow era.

Basically just give us a respectable top 10 finish whilst improving the squad over the next 3 windows. He won't be here for much longer than that.

But it's going to be another boring period for Spurs fans. Probably time for another hobby.
And navigate into the Frank shit era
