then why did we spend £40m on him
He was bought as a talent but has hardly played in midfield as yet due to Ange playing him everywhere but midfield last season. I think it is also fair to say when he has played in the middle he looks a little lost - not his fault but a consequence of his development being stalled.

I think we can point at the price tags for a lot of players and question the same.

Yup. He was losing everything and offering nothing - not even a scintilla of hope. Forest's form plummeted like a stone under Ange.

Frank's situation is a bit different. There is still hope and our current dismal situation is clearly not all down to him. We've been shit for ages.
I really hope he can turn it around, however like many managers before him he is dealing with years of Squad neglect , still lets be honest, we have a better squad than he had at Brentford, the pressure will be on him next home game and I hope he thrives on it and we see some of this attacking football he likes.

The results speak for themselves. We'll be better off in the league because Frank is a better coach. We've won no less against Woolwich and chelsea so far than we did under ange. So let's give frank 2 years and see if he can atleast muster a point vs either of them. I stated at the start of the season We'll be better off overall because Frank is a better coach but with this team it still won't be great.

He's got work to do to prove himself but I trust over the season he'll come up with a bit more than it's who we are mate or we gotta go out and play our football. Unless we go in to absolute free fall and end up somewhere near where we was last season he should get a season atleast. Calling to sack him because you (not you personally) didn't want the last manager sacked is ridiculous imo.

I am not, and have never been, "Frank Out".

You just don't want to properly understand what I'm saying because you're an Ange Deranger.

There is no perfect manager but it seems as if many think there is one. Glasner isnt perfect, Iraola isnt perfect and whoever else is being considered isnt perfect.

We had Ange for two seasons, one of if not the most inept manager the PL has ever seen. A few seem to have been in a deep coma of how successful he has been at Nottingham. The ownership and including his managerial style here created a clusterfuck of a squad, atmosphere and ethic.

Frank will need months to fix this. Half of the current squad is not up for PL standards, let alone CL stands. There is a handful of decent footballers and a giant mountain of dross.

Romero isnt the unit you all fucking think he is.
Spence will never be professional enough for this level.
Bentancur speaks for himself.
Johnson is shit.
Richarlison is shit.

These are the players which are not up to it and are long overdue to be sold. A few others are disappointing as well.

And yes the young kids are here but you cant start them in the derby. Embarassing how shit the ones with experience are to be honest. Frank will realize this soon enough.

New manager wont solve shit. The standard of this squad is laughable BUT Ange probably made them even worse during his tenure.
Coming out with crap like this, you dont deserve a successful team.

Why should players bother turning up for fans as ungrateful as this.

Completely agree with Charlie here - read full thread. With Frank (and could go back to Conte and Jose dark days) if the football is this bad then if you don't get a result fans have nothing to cling onto.
Something needs to change very quickly or we'll be having an interim again in next few months

Yeah was very similar the the end of Conte era yesterday, where we had no out and just dropping deeper and deeper offering nothing in return.

The Bayern friendly at start of season was exactly the same and should have been a big caution to Frank when playing that way.

This never resinates well among us spurs fans, we either usually throw enough back or have a maverick to get us out the shit.

Unfortunatley our maverick is Richarlison.

Absolutely, but you don’t spent £40m on a talent. That was most of our transfer budget.

When you stump out that kind of money, I’d at least expect a player that’s going to make a difference. £40m on a midfielder that’s not ready or able to play in midfield is a massive misfire.

Bergvall, Sarr, etc etc. yeah, lower fees, I understand. But not Gray.

Well done on the “who’s Eze” front by the way?, we all needed that extra shit to be bashed with today, such a stupid thing to say, was always going to come back to bite.

The more I think about the setup yesterday the more damming it is, 3-4-3 with 2 dm's that don't want the ball meaning you're playing with 7 defensive players on the pitch and not even a counter attacking threat as you had no-one to pick out passes (Porro benched), absolutely mental - like what was the actual plan here? 😖
For the most part the plan was actually perfect, play scrappy, slow the goal down and score from nowhere, its just we didn't quite get the bit right about not conceding any goals! :frankpoint:

What????

The back 5 in that semi was

Kinsky,.......Gray, Danso, Davies, Spence

We didn't concede until the 34th minute and then it all fell apart, up to the point with a shite defence we did ok tbh. It was a cup semi final, away at A field second leg with us already 1-0 up after the home leg. It was correct to go there and hold onto that lead for as long as possible
I'm talking about performance which was absolutely atrocious even though we may not have conceded for 34 minutes. We're missing maddison kulusevski and Solanke right now which would of been 3 of our highest output players from last season I would guess. So if we're going to give the excuse of the defence we played with that conceded so many can we use the same excuse at the other end and say what do you expect when you are missing 3 of your starting first 11 attacking players?

So No, it wasn't purely on the tactics or the manager.
The players seemed to be despondent vs Woolwich, and the way VdV and Spence behaved after the final whistle vs Chelsea, together amounts to worrying signs for supporters. I'm not saying it's purely on the manager, but morale seems to be low, it's as though the players don't agree with what they're being instructed to do.

The problem with these sit back park the bus tactics is if the opposition score what do you do? We handed the momentum to Woolwich, and our negative defensive mindset put the players minds into thinking negatively. The team looked like a group of dysfunctional robots.

It’s possible to think Frank is massively underperforming , to at the same time think ange was way out of his depth and had to be replaced and to also think the squad isn’t as good as it should be.

I was happy with Frank appointment but he’s been a massive let down so far, I’m not even looking at the results as much ,it’s more that I don’t see any patterns of play or any clear understanding of how we’re trying to play football. Playing for set pieces seems to be his only way of trying to break a team down, this would be unacceptable at any top 10 side let alone a team trying to be in the top 5.

I’m completely uninspired by his pressers, he’s putting way too much emphasis on “duels”. We could have won every 50/50 yesterday it still wouldn’t have helped us play out of the back and create any clear cut chances. He has to take a real look at his methods and how he’s setting us up otherwise he won’t be here very long. A bad performance at home to Fulham next week and things will get very very toxic.

I just think hes an underdog manager. Likes causing an upset against the odds. Is that what we want at Tottenham though? I just cant see this guy taking us to next level. Hope I'm wrong but I cant see it.

I think sometimes posters go over the top, but this might be right.

I still say let's see.

Frank, like Postecoglou (sorry for bringing that bloke into the conversation) must know this is highly likely to be the biggest club he will ever manage.

Whilst yesterday we were the underdogs, that is not the position Spurs fans want it to appear in too many matches.

Big few weeks for him to try and get the fans and maybe the board onside.

I am not, and have never been, "Frank Out".

You just don't want to properly understand what I'm saying because you're an Ange Deranger.
I stated not you personally. And what I'm highlighting is the hypocrisy of wanting a manger that made losing a habit here to Stay but yet a manager that has had 4 months and done no worse vs Woolwich and chelsea than the previous one to go. Like I said there was more performances like the one yesterday last season such as Liverpool away and at home in the league,Woolwich at home crumbling from 2-0 up at Brighton galatasaray away etc off the top of my head.

Crystal palace and Ipswich had a win a piece in their first 18 games combined both of those victories happened to be against us. So as much as I'll accept there's things Frank has to do to improve what's going on let's not pretend he's doing any worse than ange from last year. And if he gets the whole of last season after that then Frank definitely deserves more time than what he's currently being afforded by some.

You are onto something. I want a bunch of them gone. I cant be the only one.

They will leave one way or the other. And I hope that future players will have more grit and dedication than the group right now. Thats something the ownership and (maybe?) Frank has to make sure of.

Football these days is too data driven. Frank and Lange are data driven apparently. I couldnt give a fuck about XG in games. You go out to play, express your talent. Maradona, pele, messi and other great players from past didnt have all this xg data driven bollox. Even sky have some geeks on who probably cant kick a ball straight. The game is about talent.
