Yep.

Player selection matters on paper and it probably is necessary, because a wispy, soft midfield will get overrun, but if you had prime Modric, Kante and a Xavi (Barcelona), it would be fine. All small, but quality and fearless. The fearless is key. Same all over the pitch.

My point is it's more about the players giving their all, not being intimidated by the noise, and producing for themselves first and foremost. The rest follows as in plaudits and praise when they do well.

Just perform is all I ask, and then okay, if we lose it's a platform for the weekend.

Feeling as though the outcome today will dictate how interested I am in the rest of the campaign, at least until the winter window ends. If we are not going to have a reaction after the recent run of results then we may not have anything better in our locker. We would be trending toward yet another lost season and I am exhausted with those tbh

In spite of my doom and gloom posts since the weekend, I have a feeling we'll get something out of this. No, I don't mean a thrashing! I think we might sneak a 1-2 win. Maybe being a longtime, and long suffering, fan has made me delusional.

We really suffered at the beginning of the season because of the Isak/Wissa debacles. We had no fit senior striker for the first few games, and we were utterly toothless as a result.

We're still getting used to playing with an entirely different type of striker as the focal point. Isak was a predator, a poacher. Woltemade is closer to Sheringham than Shearer.

Honestly, from the outside, it seems like Spurs fans are way more critical of Spurs than anybody else is right now. Not knowing the ins and outs I'll not try and pretend I understand. But like you say, we're on the same points, with a worse GD, and there's no noise about discontent. Maybe more is expected of Spurs? Like I said, no idea.

Re: this game, I'd not be surprised to see some rotation given the games are coming thick and fast. We've got a trip to Bayern, then the derby next week so Howe might have one eye on keeping players fresh for them?

Hall and Livramento are both coming back from injury and might have their minutes managed, Bruno plays a lot and might swap with Tonali, and Howe seems fine with rotating the wide men so it could be Murphy and Gordon. Burn and Thiaw looked decent together but if he drops Hall then Burn will slot into left back and Schar will return.

Hope everyone who braves the cold and the midweek travel enjoys their night regardless of the result.

A 6 ft 6 inch Teddy Sheringham ?

You got yourself a version of a very special player there my Bonny Lad
( hope I’m allowed to say that ) .

Who scouted him ; is Alan Carrs dad still with you ?

Serious question.

PS : I’ve got nothing against the Toon ; a proper club in a proper city. Quite the opposite. Still grateful for what you did against the Arse at the back end of the season at your place a few years back . Not to mention larruping SAF a few times .

I would honestly consider it a result if he drops Porro, Richarlison, Bentancur, Palhinha. Don't believe in his ability to turn it around and don't even give a fuck if we lose anymore, just give other players a go, the senior core have a rotten mentality.

Usually I always look forward to watching my beloved Spurs, but tonight I feel "scared"!
Scared that should we capitulate yet again it will seem there is no way back.
By that I mean yet another overhaul and another season of failed promises and expectation.

Relax ; it’s happened many times before and we’ve always managed to “ bounce back “ .

Why should tonight be any different.

right now we are looking as bad as the worst of last season. I'm starting to look at the league to make sure there are 3 worse teams than us. and I think we are going to get soundly beaten tonight.

We're going to get spangdigglydangled.
