Exacerbated by the need to rotate, I don’t think he has a clue who his best 11 are or what his best formation is.

I don't understand why he stopped the Udogie/Odobert connection on the left, I know they were shocking against Arse but the whole team were and I think Frank tactically fucked up that match anyway but before they were cooking and having some good combinations.

Frank does some really bizarre stuff and just makes shit difficult for himself, there's no rhyme or reason for some of the teams he picks and destroys the rhythm of players so they can never get any consistency, he makes it so hard for himself and it's hard to get behind you genuinely don't know what he's trying to achieve.

I'm not sure he really WANTS to vacate the midfield. In Brentford he used Damsgaard who was plenty involved and winning the club's player of the year.
Maybe it is more a lack of confidence in our options. And, honestly, I'm not even sure, who you are referring to? 😅

Maybe he doesn't trust his midfielders sure but he completely vacates it making our build up near impossible.

I think he needs to start playing Bergvall as an 8. Sarr's technique is just so poor and his passing is barely any better than Palhinha or Bentancur - at least Bergvall can take it on the half turn, beat a man and take some risks. Ironically that's probably exactly why he's not using him there as he's too much of a maverick, but in the absence of any passing midfielders I think he's our best bet and could one day be a truly top class box to box mid.

The midfield I'd play and stick with:

Gray
Bergvall
Xavi

20. Tottenham Hotspur

Whether it’s team-mates arguing at full time, team-mates ignoring the manager, the manager slating the fans, the fans booing the players or the players ignoring the fans, it’s not exactly sunshine, lollipops and rainbows at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium right now.

Three home wins in 21 league matches will do that to you. As will charging some of the most expensive prices in the country to watch it.

It really is a shiny stadium, though.

Example of happiness

Good and unexpected result at SJP, but think Thomas might need cataracts if he was very pleased with that abject performance.

Were Romero not to have conjured The Shinning, we were on par for another forgettable night of misplaced passes, overhit crosses and giving the ball away for fun.

Just not seeing it with this fella. Vacant midfield, constant lineup changes, players looking barely coached. There is nothing fluid or organised to our game.

Just not seeing it with this fella. Vacant midfield, wide open spaces, players looking barely coached. There is nothing fluid or organised to our game.
He was pleased with the spirit of the players to come back.

Did you watch it?

Compared to some recent games we did actually try to pass out from the back to our midfielders quite a bit, usually fizzed in at speed from full-back areas, but it simply didn't work. Our mids would drop into the space to receive the ball and either be pressured into a poor touch or outright beaten to the ball by hard-pressing Newcastle players.

Newcastle clearly had our number and knew that our mids weren't good enough technically to receive the ball - pressure them and it's an easy turnover.

And the rest of the time it was like in your graphic - the mids hardly came deep to receive simple passes and largely vacated the midfield area unless they were sprinting back to receive.

FWIW - watch Tel's reaction to Cuti's first goal.

For a bloke who can barely get on the pitch (despite doing pretty well every time I see him on it) - the kid fucking CELEBRATES like a proper yid.

That's a decent sign for Frank given the questions about team morale etc... tbf
