Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

To buy a striker above Solanke or Richarlison is harder than you think. It would take a lot of transfer fees, big wages and a player willing to come. Woolwich spent big on a striker and he is poorer than both of ours.

Eketike was a masterstroke by Liverpool but most other forwards are like the guy in Portugal, a huge gamble.

I reckon there's a chance of Toney, but I also reckon if the club sell Johnson and sign Toney it indicates that Frank isn't on the brink of the sack.

We don’t though.

Richarlison
RKM
Solanke
Tel

Can all play there. We much more need a provider to create chances for them!

To suggest that all we need is "a provider" is missing the point.

Muani I'd take in a heartbeat and install him as our main striker, against PSG he was outstanding, he's no left winger for us. He holds the ball up well, makes it hard to hard the get the ball off and a good passer of the ball.

Solanke is injured more often than Richarlison, can't be relied upon and can play second fiddle once we find a better forward or sign Muani.

Richarlison can go and as quickly as we can get a replacement, talk all you want about his game at Palace but he was offside twice, can't plan a run, or hold the ball up, has piss poor ball control and spends most of the game on his ass, or complaining.

Tel is a left winger, is no central striker, and now can't even get a game. I would be amazed if he isn't shifted in the Summer.

I don't even believe

Adding a kid called Hicham Boudaoui (23yo midfielder Nice). He's not a "passer", but an incredibly technically gifted, press resistant midfielder who carries out of pressure and breaks lines, breaks into forward areas, whilst still being defensively competent.

semenyo done to City, will be wrapped up 1st Jan

Will we have learned from past mistakes, or will we still be scuttling about on the 31st, competing with Brentford and Leeds for cheap loans

Not sure a massive spend on a CF makes sense

Richarlison: very good finisher but weak in the build up
Solanke: decent all round
Mauni: Not a LW, good build up/hold up but mixed in front of goal

There is no guarantee the guy from Portugal will be better and even if he is it doesn’t significantly improve us. There is much bigger bang for our buck at DM, LW and LB.
Think we underestimate Richarlison outside of goals. Did you not see what he did to play Odobert in for the one he hit the post with?
I would prefer, right now, to see Richarlison off the left and RKM through the middle. Or just simple swapping in game.
you old fucker :)
im so old i still remember Being linked Leandro Damiao
and im so old that i still think there is a chance that one we will see him in a spurs shirt
I reckon we should invite Leandro for the next exhibition game at our place.

We're not signing a Balon D'or nominee.
Happy Cracking Up GIF

Frank isn't on the brink of the sack but it would be very disappointing if the board are not considering all the detail.

If we got Toney on loan it would only mean short-tern backing. It's clear Frank doesn't rate Johnson, so big enough bid and if it suits the player, he is gone. Whether Johnson thinks he might outlast the manager who knows.

Most managers deserve at least 2 or 3 transfer windows, and I get a feeling this might be another endured and not enjoyed managerial tenure.

Frank is doing nothing at present to make me believe we are going to be closer to being competitive. In fact, I have no idea what he is trying to achieve.

Edit
Want to add in a good young prospect Djauoi Cissé (Rennes 21yo midfielder - 6). Tall, strong, athletic, can tackle but what caught my eye was his passing at times (watched him live 90 and bits and bobs since - mentioned him in other threads).

That Spurs need a LB is obvious (coz Udogie is so injury prone)....but I can't get why they want to replace the whole left-side of the team unless they are selling van de Ven.
And Spurs already have the following CBs: Romero, Vuskovic, Danso, Dragusin, Ashley Phillips, Takai, van de Ven.

Four positions Tottenham want to strengthen

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has now backed up the claim that a left-back is a priority next month, but he reveals that the North Londoners want to replace the entire left-hand side of the team.

It does not come as a surprise to hear that Tottenham also want a left-back, given that Ben Davies is in the final year of his contract and Destiny Udogie continues to struggle with injuries.

Gold adds that over the next two transfer windows, Tottenham also want to add a midfielder and another centre-back to their squad

I actually think a LB is probably the key transfer we need.

A proper LB will balance out that wing very nicely, and even allow us to play something of an inverted winger off that side while maintaining width.

Could really suit someone like Tel, who could come into the channel and link up with Xavi/ST/LB on that side

Which in turn would do Kudus some favours as well - granting him more space to work in

Would be sort of lop sided, but would get players in the positions we want them to be in

(not saying it would be an ideal window, just the biggest impact move IMO)
