Ex-Spurs Player Brennan Johnson

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Good if true.

Fcuking wretched decision especially as there is next to zero to have faith in what Frank is dishing up.

Hope Johnson does well and is played in such a way as to utilise his obvious quality in front of goal.

Fuck me, our players are as weak as piss.

Sell the unhappy ones. They are probably the same ones happy to dole out substandard performances and go home crying to their agents because the fans boo them.

Bit of both for me.

Johnson is a squad player for us at best, isnt really suited to a proper Spurs side, and so will be on the bench a lot.
At Palace he will be played to his strengths, I think its a deal thats best for all involved tbh (not always the case)

However, if the dressing room is getting pissy about the club moving a player on, just because hes their mate - fuck them all.

They should be in the business of winning, not treating it like an after school club

Hmmmmmm.....

Where are the players in our squad who can do what Johnson does and where are the signings that make the decision to sell him, something we can see is a sign of intention?

Forget friendship although team harmony is important, I am talking solely of the strategic thinking.

At present Johnson has been sold bevause a negative manager doesn't think he suits a sh!t style of play. I say fcuk that.

This.

No matter, Frank In or Out - at least the club has shown some guts and hopefully those 'unhappy' fuckers will no longer feel that comfortable here when results are bad.

Just look at any/all of the (fair) criticism of Johnson, its clear why is is far from an optimal player for us.

Can he do a specific job in specific circumstance? Yes. Is it worth keeping him for those odd occasions? No, not for me.

Id rather let him go, play more and do more for himself - and give us the opportunity to bring in a more suited player

Mate, give me one indication Frank is going to want to bring in players that are this so,called more suited to us?

I'm not blind to Johnson's limitations but I'm oblivious to the players that Frank might want tbat anyone believes suit us.

We have a group of players and dressing room that are happy losing.

There is a complete absence of professional demand. City, Scum, Dippers and Chavs would not tolerate it.

I imagine this will go down badly with the fanbase. Kind of thing that will cause people to turn further on the players. Most people can see they are a huge part of the problem. Life is all a bit too comfortable for them at THFC. It is why I'm delighted he is being sold. Ruffle a few feathers.

Im already living in my head in a post Frank world 😄

I dont think we should be buying players to suit him, because I dont think he will be here long term.

What we should be doing, is setting the right identity for the club to then dictate everything down the line, from new managers to new players etc...

And in that world, BJ doesnt fit outside of rare circumstance, IMO

Think one of the reasons we sold him is because he’s probably one of the few players we could decent money for.

Partly true but the reality is he was nowhere near good enough.

I am sure there are quite a few players in the squad the club will jog on if we get decent offers for.

Johnson was one of the exceptions in that he is a terrible player, but other midtable PL clubs want him because despite all his limitations, he has shown he can score goals in this league.

So it's a weird situation where I totally get why some clubs want him, but also find it funny because he's so poor. I imagine Johnson will have a bit of a journeyman career from here on out.

Palace will eventually realise how crap he is, jog him on after a few seasons etc etc

Whereas for many other players in our squad, I just don't see what other clubs will pay the money we want.

And the reality is it isn't easy to get players out of this club as for many players we are as good as it gets. World class facilities, great contract, it's all downhill after us for players who aren't good enough.

Even Johnson was resisting to go and we had to basically push him out the door.

What we seem to do often is sign players who aren't good enough, but we don't realise they aren't good enough for us until a period of time elapses, and then once we realise this, we can't move them on, as these players have been signed above their level of quality and performance so want to stay put.
