They ain’t going to buy anyone of note. If they had wanted to them we’d have made moves already. Dont think they realise or care how toxic that will make the rest of the season. Suspect they’ll just fuck off to Florida and let Vinai face the music.

"We tried."

"We worked very, very hard."

"January is always a difficult market."

"We couldn't find anyone to improve the first XI."

"We believe the squad is strong enough to compete."

"The selling team moved the goalposts last minute."

Issue now is, who realistically can we attract?

We’re not winning a cup this year, we’re not going to get European football and we’re on for another season of finishing 10-14th. There are more attractive options out there now. We can offer a shiny stadium and training ground. That’s it. Everyone else can match us for wages.

We went from Eze and Gibbs-White in the summer to now struggling to attract at all. ENIC have taken us back so much we’re becoming an Everton
It's true we're not gonna attract the real top players in our current state, but historically some of our better buys have been when we've been outside of the Champions League and sometimes Europe entirely.

Lloris, Vertonghen, Dembele when we finished 4th but missed out on CL
Modric after we finished 11th
Dele, Eriksen after we came 5th
Romero when we finished 7th
VdV + Maddison when we finished 8th

Ironically when we've actually been in the CL we've tended to spend worse (Sanchez, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sissoko, Bissouma, Aurier, Richarlison...the list goes on).

We're currently in our worst shape for a while, but if the scouting is good enough there are usually decent deals on the market, and we can always offer PL football, London, high(ish) wages, etc.

It's frustrating as what we need right now are those ready made star players and those will be hard to get but tbh, the main thing holding us back in the market has been our wage structure more than anything. If we offer high enough wages then we'll always attract some decent players.

My concern is far more whether we buy the right players than whether we can attract players.

No definitely don’t. We’d fuck him royally if we brought him back now.

keep him away as long as possible. Anything to buy us as much time as possible to hope for a miracle that we will have a functioning team and club again.

bring him back when we are already to build a team around him, like we built a team around Kane et al in 2015.

He's a big piece of that puzzle - but still just a piece right now. Recalling him now would be an awful idea.

There's always that speedy winger from ???? that only costs £6m !!

Nice, concise list.
Takai, Solomon and Veliz from the 1st team squad are also on loan.
Dorrington has been recalled from his loan but odds on to get another.

Could we all stop being so negative and suggest who we could sign.
I’m not expecting miracles here but some intent would be welcome. A serious offer for Wharton or Anderson would be a start. A proper offer. Not £25M down and the rest on tick over 5 years or whatever.

I don’t expect either of them to come here but an expression of serious intention is the least we should expect after listening to all of the hollow bollocks that was spouted when Levy was sacked.

I don't want to buy anyone unless we get a new manager.
I am beginning to think Frank was only brought in to piss off the big money players and get them to leave.

The long term injuries to Maddison, Solanke, and Kulusevski have been absolutely devastating for us. A lot of transfer fees and salary invested in them- we were already a side with marginal depth, being financially unable to replace them has left us looking a class lower for a long time now...
Are we financially unable? Aren't we one of the football clubs in the world with highest income iver the past three years?
