If reports of an interim first then a permanent manager after the season ended are true, then likely it won't be Xavi since he's available now and could coach immediately.
If that is the case, then yes, because there is no way Xavi will take an interim role. But it would be a bit strange to appoint Heitinga as interim head-coach after just 2 games (after the Dortmund game) at the club...

If Xavi was to come(big if), I assume he would bring some coaching staff with him, so Heitinga may not even have a job at all, or if he did it wouldn’t be senior first team coach.

Has anyone mentioned McKenna? He knows the club and I remember liking the way he had Ipswich playing last season. Obviously they had worse players and went down but I think we’d be alright under him.

This is a bit left field but if Man United fuck up appointing Carrick it could also be an option in the near future. I don't think there are any good or obvious options at the moment. It was the same with Ange to an extent in terms of no point in sacking someone if there is no one better lined up.

Based on the bookies odds, I'd prefer Xabi Alonso.

Robbie Keane is a dark horse.

Poch Manager, Robbie Keane - Assistant..... Players won't have a scooby what's being said during half-time team talk. :paraticiwink:

I reckon it's gonna be interim then Poch.

Over the last few years we've tried big names, proven PL mid-table managers, guys unproven at this level that play attacking football. The club are running out of ideas and I think they'll default to daddy Poch who will instantly bring back the feel-good factor after such a toxic period. It's the closest thing to a 'get out of jail free card' with the fan-base.

I'm not completely against Poch but I worry it's a bit of an easy way out and he'll struggle to come anywhere near to his first tenure. In one of his final games as Chelsea manager his side got absolutely dismantled by Woolwich 5-0 (and that was in a period where his Chelsea were supposedly 'good'). I just think he's a bit past it at the very top level. He'll do better than Frank and Ange, for sure, but it'll be Europe/Conference at best. And maybe that's enough in the short term tbh, hence I'm not against it. It's always fun getting back with an ex for a while before you remember why you split up in the first place.

Thing is, the braintrust of non football people like Vinai, Vivienne and co shoudn't be making this decision - it should be made by someone who really knows what they're doing. And we've got Lange FFS.

We need a new GOOD DoF with a genuine vision who should then appoint the best possible manager that aligns with our squad and footballing values. We shouldn't just default to Poch just because. That's the type of lazy thinking that got us into this mess in the first place.
