Dude, he came up through Basel and then Moenchengladbach without any ties to Woolwich and has played for a couple of teams since. To my knowledge, he never disparaged Spurs or Bale like Maddison. He ain’t no Jack Wheelchair.

William Gallas captained Woolwich. Given the nature of professional athletes, your point is pretty absurd.
Obviously, I don’t want him but it’s ridiculous to dismiss a player based on the professional teams that he’s played for.

Would reek of panic buying tbh. Bunch of fairly random older dudes that will help us stave of relegation but we'll be desperate to sell in 2 years.

I'd be happy in the sense that they're the exact types of players that would help us survive and finish solidly mid-table. Goretzka and Robertson are experienced leaders and winners while Mateta is probably an upgrade on RKM and Rich (although, like Dom, he's a really bloody unreliable finisher - worst in the league statistically this year).

In terms of good investments, squad building, etc. they're pretty awful, though.

As discussed previously, I don't think we're gonna attract our first, second or third choice targets to join this basketcase in January, so it's a case of pick your poison:

1) Pull the emergency cord and buy these types of players to (hopefully) ensure survival but fuck ourselves over a bit medium-term by clogging up the squad with older, fading players on big wages with no sell-on.

2) Hold tight until the summer and get players we actually want risk a genuine outside chance of relegation.
