I'm willing to put all that down to him just not realising how big a club he's walked into but he should realise by now and I'd expect the gaslighting to stop sharpish if he wants people back on board.

It's weird cos I consider myself a nice, quiet, cheery & modest guy but I find it hard to warm to Frank. On the other hand, I absolutely loved Ange and his prickly, grumpy, arrogant & dour demeanour. I guess opposites really do attract!

:bergvallhmm:
I honestly think he believes everything he says.

He just can't help but see everything through the lens of a mid-table manager. Despite our shit performances and results, I think he really does believe he's gradually adding layers and improving us.

Despite our recent run of results, we have been doing better in some areas (hence he keeps going on about it) but the bar is so low and what he's aspiring to is so unexciting, it's very hard for any fans to get behind. Are we meant to be pleased that we're no longer getting 0.05xG per game?

Said it before, but he's bringing us down to his level and turning us into an upmarket Brentford rather than raising his level to Spurs. And that's all we'll ever be under him - an upmarket Brentford.

I’m going to get pelters. But are we starting to see some green shoots all of a sudden? We’ve been great in Europe and in the last few premier league games (albeit not picking up the points) the best players on the pitch have been our opponents goalkeepers……

I may also be going a bit early, but am I mad for starting to see some improvements in certain players under these coaches?

I’ll exclude Xavi and VdV as they have shown good levels previously. But Solanke looks much better since injury, odobert looks to have improved and the same can be said of Gray.

Will take an awful lot to save his job. But I feel a CL quarter final and mid table finish along with some patterns will be enough to see him into next season

For a while there was a legit argument that no-one was getting better under him, but I think this past month or so, in spite of the shitty results, some individuals have looked better.

I think Odobert, Tel, Gray and Xavi have all looked notably improved compared to their appearances earlier in the season.

I think the negatives of Frank still far outweigh the positives and it would take us going on an incredible run for him to get a second season at this point - like winning 80-90% of our remaining games while playing decent stuff - but I do think there are signs he's finally starting to come good on his reputation for improving players.

Since Heitinga was added to the staff, which probably isn't just a coincidence. Heitinga was also highly rated at Liverpool and by Slot for his work behind the scenes. If somehow Frank + Heitinga works okay till the end of the season then fine with me.

Can see Frank going pretty much like ange did in the summer. They will come to some agreement and say it just didn't work out
You'd hope there's some kind of clause in his contract that reduces his payout and makes it easier to dismiss him if he finishes below a certain position in the table.

Dunno if that's a done thing, but if the expectation was that head at least be finishing top 10 and the goal was top 5-6, then finishing ~15th is well below target.

Pure speculation but might also be why the board are so desperate to see out the season. Payout might be much bigger if they fuck him off now rather that in 4 months.

I was thinking yesterday, what would happen if we swapped managers with City?

I am confident, pretty quickly, Spurs would become a possession based team. We'd see a system in place that meant players on the ball would always have options. The focus of the team would be scoring goals, and getting up into the right areas to do so. Would probably have some weaknesses at the back - but over all I think in short order we would be a proper footballing team. Far from perfect given the squad, but far improved from where we are today.

And City? Im quite sure we would see the style, flair, attacking intent - confidence - just drain out of them...

Yeah but my point was the whole narrative around the manager from the press, pundits, etc is night and day.

Last year, they basically told Ange to shut up about the injuries and said he should be doing better.
This year, we should stick with Frank because he has the injury excuse.

Both seasons unacceptable but both with completely different narratives.

I will be happier than anyone if Frank turns it around but, I agree, he needs to completely change his mentality. Stop being such a pussy and go for the wins!
This. Very much this. Frank is a just yes-man and accepting our club like a Brentford that everyone is happy to go along, knowing what a threat we could be if we got too good, which was what Ange wanted us to be and everyone were quick to shoot him down.

I did not disagree with the appointment in the summer. He had done a good job at Brentford who did score goals and were not just defensive. I also believe that you need to get stability with Managers and not just get rid at first sign of trouble. So that the fact he is still here does not surprise me. Porch was our most recent successful Manager and came from a lesser PL team, in his own words thought he was getting sacked early on but lasted a few years. When Conte left and we had temporary Managers it got worse.

I do not think that he will now get sacked this week or is nailed on to get to the end of the season. It is still down to results and getting the needed points to avoid Relegation and how toxic it gets at home matches with the fans. I would have it at 50/50 for him lasting the month.

No :frankreally:

We've had great results in Europe, I dont think we've been great. We have been fortunate with the draw, and with teams just not showing up against us. Its a terrific achievement, but not one Ill be getting excited over in terms of how we got there.

I definitely think some players are improving.

Im really not sure its anything to do with Frank, as much as its to do with playing time.

Xavi - is settling in now. Frank is moving him between 10 and LW as neccessity dictates, is generally starving him of players to play with with his system. I feel like Xavis improvement is acclimation as much as anything

Solanke - Always a quality player, just needs minutes to get back his sharpness. Instant upgrade on Richy (/Muani)

Odobert - Is really stepping up. Again I think minutes have played a big part in it. I would credit Frank somewhat, he's played him consistently and with a proper wingers role, which will have helped.

Gray - Another one for minutes, IMO. I feel bad for him, FRank is using him like Ange did - a swiss army player. Id love for him to get a position, a role, and some time in that. Because I think hes a real player in the waiting.

Id sack him today.

I would have sacked him before Christmas.

Getting through this season with him there, as looks like will happen, is going to be torture

Theres no possible way he can get next season too :frankfacepalm::pochcry::contehmm::ange-confused::pochcmon::bentley:

So if you’re Frank do you persevere with the 3-4-3 that worked in Europe? Even though it only managed a draw with Burnley and got torn apart by City in first gear?

Or do you stick with the back 4 that got you back in the game second half vs City?

Define success... Poch won nothing. In that context we sacked our most successful manager last summer.

i don't think we got torn apart by City first half tbh. They were better for sure but their goals were absolutely preventable. Against Burnley we also should have won that comfortably.

If it were me, Id say the 4-4-2 type shape we played is when we've played best recently

If it were Frank, itll be whatever the worst most cowardly choice is

With both Spence and Porro out think playing with wing backs is no go. Hence back 4 with Archie as RB.

Once they are back, still think 3-4-3 can work sometimes. But you need to have someone like Odobert in place of Muani - so he can link with Xavi who has to drop more for the ball. Ahh, and you need to have left footed LCB out there like Micky

Nothing changes for me with Frank , I want him gone and I’d get Iraola in , no Europe next season so he can get a chance to get his ideas over , we need to build a squad for him as his teams press relentlessly but I think we’ve got a core of players that suit that style . That first half yesterday was one of the most depressing 45 mins I’ve seen at home , never want to see spurs come out so defeatist again .
