One of the defenders has to step up with the ball or Sarr has commit a midfielder. There’s enough players in that phase to play out. It’s not really to do with players further forward showing for the ball. They are there but they’re going to have a player right up them unless you want them all to start dropping deeper. You need to disrupt the shape of the opposition in the first phase to create space for the players further forward.
Ange installed that mentality. Frank is dining out on it
The point being that they should have gone for a better version of Ange.
Liverpool did this by going from Rodgers to Klopp.

I have been trying to say the same thing to SO many Spurs fans and they just don't want to see it. They reach for microcosmic atoms of hope like "good second half performance" or "improvement from last match" or "carry the Champions League performances into the league" when it is THA COACH AND HIS APPROACH TO FOOTBALL.
