Not to mention that even appointing Poch in the summer will logistically be a late one. He won't be able to leave the US job until they are out of the world cup so mid July at the earliest. And then he has a right for 3 weeks or so of vacation per the Fifpro CBA or the coach equivalent. So he wouldn't be in the job until August most likely.

I'd like to have him back but this summer is just bad from a logistics perspective.
True but most players will be away at the World Cup too so he’s not going to be working with a full squad in pre-season anyway.

Tim Sherwood

  • Appointed: December 2013
  • Left: May 2014
  • Took over after André Villas-Boas was sacked.
  • Initially interim, then given a contract to the end of the season.
📊 Overall Record (All Competitions)
  • Games: 28
  • Wins: 14
  • Draws: 4
  • Losses: 10
  • Win rate: 50%
    🏆 Premier League Record
  • Games: 22
  • Wins: 13
  • Draws: 2
  • Losses: 7
  • Win rate: ~59%
  • League finish: 6th (qualified for Europa League)
🔎 Context & Assessment

Positives
  • Strong league form initially (notably a 3–2 win at Man United).
  • Promoted youth — gave consistent opportunities to Harry Kane, Nabil Bentaleb and others.
  • Points-per-game in the league was solid (around 1.9 PPG).
    Negatives
  • Heavy defeats (e.g., 4–0 vs Liverpool, 4–0 vs Chelsea).
  • Early cup exits (FA Cup 4th round, League Cup 3rd round earlier in season).
  • Public disagreements with players and perceived tactical naivety.
  • Replaced by Mauricio Pochettino that summer.
🧠 Overall Verdict

Statistically, his Premier League record was decent to good, especially short-term.
However, performances were inconsistent, and the club opted for a longer-term rebuild under Pochettino.
The league was really weak then and you could beat half the division at a canter. Now its probably 2 or 3 teams like that or for us currently none Every time he played someone decent we got a right shoeing. City 5-1 at home, Chelsea 4-0, Liverpool 4-0, lost to Woolwich twice and West Ham twice. To be fair he did as well as an interim can expect to do but he flopped at Villa and hasnt had a job in the game since.

What frustrates me the most is that the club cannot pick a way forward and stick to it.

The club's problem is identity execution, not identity choice.

They pick a philosophy and fail to finish building the squad to support it.

Then change philosophy before it’s complete

Until the club commits to one tactical model for 3-4 years with aligned recruitment, the cycle will repeat. Ange said this.

Now the issue we have is that management appointed this nuffie called Thomas Frank who has put us in danger of relegation, at least Ange sacrificed the league for a trophy, and bled some juniors during his 2nd season, Frank has no excuses.

Does Ben Davies have his badges yet?...

Hmmmm not as daft as it sounds.

Heitinga with a few Spurs old heads in Mason, Davies, Defoe etc.

It can’t get much worse surely……
