Of course the physical and intimidation aspects wouldn’t, but there was much more to his game than that.

He was a bloody good footballer that always gave 100%. that inspired those around him to raise their games.

I didn't suggest there wasn't, but the former would still be a significant hindrance to himself and the team regardless.

And you listen to the many top players and when they are asked who they would have as captain, it's nearly always Keane.

Very good player, and an even better leader.

Screw loose undoubtedly.

There is no evidence Keane directly ended any player's career, although his infamous 2001 tackle on Alf-Inge Håland is often cited in football folklore as doing so.

Nothing like the truth. Not even sure why you felt the need to bring it up.

Keane was a magnificent leader and a very good player. He was actually hard as opposed to our captain..

If you like players stamping on people and kicking them studding them in the knee, fly kicking and punching fellow pros then we know where you plant your flag.

I loved Roy Keane but the over glazing is embarrassing, he was a thug on the pitch and say what you want about Romero he is nowhere near as dirty as Keane was

Pure folklore.

It came out some time afterwards that it was a problem with the left knee that ended Haaland senior’s career and Keane had taken out his right leg. The rumoured legal action against Keane was dropped after the medical evidence came to light, but the folklore continued.

Other than a few really nasty challenges, a lot of the Keane thuggery has been overblown and nothing we still don’t see on the pitch even now.

He got a red for throwing the ball at Shearer FFS and the handbags that followed. We saw worse than that in our own Battle of the Bridge.

IMHO the thuggery has been overhyped over the years and Keane has done nothing to talk it down himself as I think he likes the image.

Should have got banned for a year and done community service

I mean if the FA won't do it then the Club should - we need to set standards at our club and it begins with volunteering to execute our Captain by immolation in a Wicker Man Basket. It's the only way to prove we're serious as fanbase.
