Reece James has played 1897 minutes in the league.
This season? Playing a less demanding position? And for a club that has suffered years with his frequent injuries and are now laser-focused on pampering him? Awesome...so everything before should just be disregarded then, right?

Deuterz: "yeah, I know you've cheated on me a bunch but it's been one month with no strange for you. I'm gonna go and just forget any of that unpleasantness ever occurred. I mean, there's no way you'd do it a 7th time, right?"
Not at present he isn't!
He’s had his first injury in well over a year and is meant to be back with plenty of time.

Anderson is a proper 6, Rice is the best 8 in the world, and whilst Bellingham or Foden aren’t in form, they’re both proper 10s and excellent players.
Not a 6, not an 8, and neither of them are 10s...or any good. Anderson is an 8, Rice is a pinball for whom Woolwich spent 100M and still had to invest in a proper 8 and proper 6 to handle both of the positions he was invisioned...and then reinvisioned to fill.
Barney hates England. He is obnoxious.
Ad homs neglect the merits of his points. How about we get Jonathan Liew's take then?

He’s played right back. A lot. His injury proneness is being managed which is what England will have to do as well. If he’s not fit then a Livramento will have to play - oh no a very talented premier league right back, what will we do!

Players get injured mate.

Rice, Anderson, 10 is a very balanced midfield. It’s very physical, lots of defensive awareness and a lot of quality. I’m not engaging with your rice nonsense. He is currently runaway favourite for PL player of the year playing 8. He is the textbook definition of a player who covers both boxes aka a box to box.

His points are ridiculous. England haven’t beaten a top team under Tuchel .. ok Barney, how many have we actually played? He lost to Senegal .. yeah about 5 minutes after he took over when it was clear he was finding his feet and before we hit any kind of momentum at all. What a waste of time.

We drew 1-1 due to a late penalty to Uruguay A with England C and somehow Barney is using this as a hammer against Tuchel .. give me a fucking break.

His comments about talent could apply to every nation not France. Everyone has gaps filled by not elite players. We could of course play a lot more players with “CL and pl winning experience” as he wants if we called up Trent etc but Tuchel wants the right tactical fits. Aka what we’ve wanted from an England coach for years.

Essentially - some players are out of form going in to a tournament. But they’re still undoubted quality, and tournaments are a different story. I can see Palmer lighting it up as he suits that kind of arena as he did in the CWC.

Not to mention Morgan Rogers.

Dembele with goals. I rate him higher that Bellingham.

I think our midfield, that Tuchel has been playing recently, is as balanced as I've seen it in decades. He has a wide range of options in there too, as all our midfielders offer something different in their own right. All Tuchel needs to do with that is ensure he gets the right blends.

Tuchel even did the unimaginable and split Foden and Bellingham up. Lo and behold, Foden then has his best game in an England shirt because he's played in his best position as a 10, rather than shoehorned left just so we get them both on the pitch.

We have a formidable midfield against anyone IMO. I think our back line, whilst not nearly as loaded as our midfield, is still a very good one, but our frontline is where I think we're weakest. Outside Kane, there are few goals from our wide forwards. Gordon is far from prolific in front of goal, and the same can be said for Saka and Madueke.

That's my only real concern where England are concerned. In a tight game, where you absolutely need to take the chances you get, we can't just rely on Kane. It's that, for want of a better term, lack of goal threat that concerns me. That'll be what decides our tournament, whether there's enough goals in the team.

🤣

England are shit. Embarrassing.

Safe, boring, unimaginative football.

It's like watching Frank again.

Can’t really judge a mismash team up against a good Japan side that will do well at the World Cup. What we can say is that Foden as a false 9 isn’t the answer when Kane isn’t available, you need an actual striker on the pitch. Palmer has also been dog shit. Looks like a player completely devoid of confidence.

Had Kane been available he would have been on the end of at least two of the crosses we had in that first 45 and wouldn’t be behind.

Engerlund struggling here....... Don't seem to have a key to pick the lock whereas Japan extremely dangerous on the break.

Could be 2/3 down already.

Was watching Sky earlier and England are in danger of falling into their usual mistake of over-confidence.

The reporter said:

"Tuchel was brought in to win knock out games. They were always qualifying and they will get out of their group at the WC..."

Dangerous mindset.

Would probably have won the game pretty comfortably with Kane but it took us far too long to actually make their keeper work. I don’t want to see Palmer, Foden or Solanke anywhere near the plane this summer.

Too many players missing. That settled side Tuchel found which was purring along just hasn’t been available. Unfortunately a lot of their replacements are just massively out of form and don’t have partnerships,

Japan are a very technically proficient organised team unit and you can’t go in half cocked against them and expect to not get bitten.

They’re a QF team. The fact that we lost 0-1 in a game we probably should have drew in the end without 7 first teamers isn’t the end of the world, though it will be made out to be by the media and plenty of England fans.

These two friendlies have ultimately been a complete waste of time.

England are the Spurs of International football.

Utterly predictable and always fall short, and just like Spurs when Kane finally hangs up his boots will be bang average as he's the only world class player we have.

Agree and we were the better team once Tuchel shifted from that bizarre Foden false nine.
