Supporters THST - Useless and need to be replaced.

This philosophy is later contradicted by "their actions are guided by the direction of members"....clearly not?

My feeling is they have jumped on the noise created by other platforms and used the opportunity to further personal aims/beliefs without consultation with any of the people they were elected to represent.

They seem to have decided quite a while ago that their role is to be opposed to and challenge everything the club does.

Which is fine, but they then need to remove the word "supporter(s)" from their name, as they do nothing to support the club at all - e.g. I didn't see them mentioned at all in the organisation of the fan efforts to support the team before the Forest game.

As democratically elected board members, the positions, lobbying and campaigns the Trust takes and leads are guided by this direction from members, and we are held accountable by the democratic process outlined above. The Board is also responsible for reviewing the sentiment and feedback from its work, and this situation will be no different at the next board meeting.

With regard to our statement on Roberto De Zerbi’s appointment, prior to the announcement, we were contacted by a number of members and supporters who asked us to raise their concerns with the Club. We took this, along with our reflections on how the Club's values and our Five Principles of Ownership were being upheld by the Club, into our decision-making. The Board determined they were not.

Our aim was to challenge the Club and the newly appointed manager in a way that would clarify their position. We felt, based on the feedback we were receiving, that this was vital to ensure the fan base would feel heard, which, in turn, would enable us to all focus on supporting the team and the new manager in the final games of the season. We hope the Club will do so quickly.

We appreciate all the support and constructive criticism we have received in this instance and will consider and reflect on the opinions of our members and other Spurs fans at our next meeting. This will include assessing mechanisms to take the pulse of our members' views at speed. More information to follow.

We remain committed to being an independent, democratic body open to all Tottenham Hotspur supporters. We would encourage all of our members to get involved whenever they can and welcome ongoing dialogue on this and other issues impacting the Club.

Our sole focus now is on supporting the team in the games we have left and playing our part in preventing relegation.

It's written as if they own the fucking club.

I have never read a more pompous, self righteous bunch of guff written by a clubs supporters trust.

'With this appointment, communications from the Club and from Mr De Zerbi must clearly and unequivocally reaffirm these values. Furthermore, those words must be backed by meaningful action, including visible and sustained support for women’s charities and organisations working to combat violence against women'
 
It must be a tiring life holding up a list of “values” and stating if you don’t adhere or I don’t perceive you to hold these values or you don’t hold these values sufficiently then I’m not talking to you. Never heard “ I take as I find” which from the De Zerbi seems to be he never gave me any trouble and was a pleasure to work with. Who hasn’t ever fucked up and done stuff they are deeply ashamed of?
 
I'm not a member and know next to nothing about the THST. But, they have a point about Zebri and his support for Greenwood.
Most of us on here have been vehement in our comments about about Woolwich and Arteta's support of Thomas Partey over the last few years. Sure, Greenwood, unlike Partey, doesn't play for Spurs. But our new manager wouldn't be that bothered if he did.
 
After the interview with De Zerbi this is what the trust said
“We asked for Roberto De Zerbi and the Club to address the comments. He has done so and apologised for any offence. He has reiterated a commitment to challenge violence against women. This is extremely welcome. The fan base can now fully unite behind him and the team and work together to avoid relegation.”

They needed to put out a statement like this as imo they misjudged the room and alienated a lot of fans with their stance. They needed to change their stance and De Zerbis good interview has given them that option.

If they had any sense they would keep their head down for a while after this. Our club never misses an opportunity to miss an opportunity so there will be more shit shows to come but it's actually impressive how badly THST have dealt with these where they should be loved by the fans but have actually turned a lot of fans against them.
 
What I fail to understand is as follows. They and others are making a massive song and dance over this but seem to be extremely selective.

A Fulham FC group piped up in support of Women of the Lane. Fulham have three players who represent Nigeria. Nigeria have laws against homosexuality.

There must be countless more examples like this.

There are players from multiple countries, whose countries have legislation against homosexuality and these players proudly represent those countries.

I’ve put these examples to these groups on Twatter but they have failed to answer me.

Should we assume that their silence on these issues are because they’re in agreement with the legislation? After all I’m lead to believe silence is complicity and every citizen is apparently responsible for their governments decisions. That’s how it works, right?

And these examples have been around long before RDZ turned up here.

They don't have a point. It was virtue dog whistling faux outrage at its best. I'm hoping a lot of fans cancel membership and get behind C4T.
 
The issue with virtue signalling in football is it's partisan nature, it will eventually make a hypocrite of everyone.

If De Zerbi is a real success for us everything will be accepted and forgotten.

It's exact reason it's targeted for sportswashing.
