Yeah wonder how we'd go about targeting signings if we go down.

Smart approach would probably be to target some of the best upcoming talents at current Champ clubs that would soon be making the leap to the Prem anyway: the Olise, Eze, Wharton, Bowen equivalents. We've often lamented missing out on these players and now we can offer them guaranteed minutes and get them a season earlier in their development.

An obvious example would be Hayden Hackney at Boro if no PL clubs come in for him. And even if they do, being a guaranteed starter at a big club like Spurs aiming for promotion might appeal more to him if the only offers are Coventry and Ipswich who would likely come straight back down. He might be unobtainable, but I think he's the type we should be looking at.

Beyond that, talented up-and-comers from 2nd tier European leagues like Portugal, Belgium, Holland, etc. And a few decent loanees to bulk out the squad.
Fuck me, you are correct but seeing it written out stings - competing with Cov and Ipswich fo signings, Cov didn’t have their own ground until a decade ago

I keep wondering how much a season ticket will cost if we go down. It's going to bite the owners on the arse the financial hit alone circa £250,000,000, could there be any light at the end of the tunnel. Some of our loanees will slot in who have already got experience in the Championship
One loanee coming back is Ashley philips who had a magnificent season in the championship,..20 yrs old and captaining stoke ..a born leader.

Kudus will be fit before the season starts, no? Think he's one that will v.likely be sold or loaned unless De Zerbi sells him a dream.

Obobert's the one with the long term injury (will miss around half of the season) so will need lots of reinforcements in wide areas. We have Moore to slot straight in at least.

I thought Kudus was announced to have had a setback with his recovery recently, and now needs surgery?

Moving on from the squad, what's the form for fixtures in the Championship?

Not watched much this season but the kick off times seem to be all over the place, as much as the Prem?

Would imagine we'd be on TV quite a lot or is there a maximum one team can be featured?

No VAR? Think I'd quite enjoy that.

Usually get 1 Friday night, 2 or 3 Saturday lunchtime and 1 on Sunday. We'll have more Saturday 3pm kick offs but imagine we'll be on the box a lot.

I think this argument just shows the nature of our club. If Bournemouth went down they would have 4-5 talents to buy who would get them out of the Championship then blossom the next year in the prem. Our scouts only seem to be able to pick out obvious players like Maddison who won’t come if we get relegated or players who might be great in a few years.

The scouting, the medical everything just seems off with us compared to much better run clubs like Brighton or Brentford etc. a club with our asset base should easily be able to buy an elite team even in the Championship and springboard from there in the prem.

everything wrong with us goes back to the horrible horrible state Levy let the back office get into and how Joe simply neglected it as it was happening. Nothing gets fixed until the sporting director, CEO, head of scouting, head of medical are elite. Blows my mind that we have the best facilities yet hire donkeys like Lange to work in them. Like spending £500k on a kitchen and getting a temp to run it.

I actually mis-read your last sentence as
“ ….getting a TRAMP to run it “ .

Lost none of your meaning by doing so mind .

( No offence to any tramps on here btw ) .

Could Spurs do a pay per view service via Spursplay in the Championship?

Agree with this, Hackney is obvious as we need a midfielder that can pass, other players like Fatawu, Harwood Bellis if Southampton dont come up would be sensible. Players that could easily play in the prem. Just got a feeling we'll still try and act billy big bollocks and prove we're a big club and chase stupid names all summer, or we'll over correct with a load of veterans.
With our lot of fucksticks who knows? But the obvious strategy would be a few talented young players with Champ experience like Hackney and a few promising talents from France where De Zerbi knows the league well from his 18 months there. Anyone outside of PSG and maybe Marseille will still be earning tonnes less than we’d offer even with Champ restrictions.

The best players from the play off teams that missed out on promotion would be one way to look at it. Agreed that they might be in demand from the clubs that are going up and want to strengthen though.

The one thing we need to get right regardless is the actual balance of the squad, in terms of positions, age, experience etc.

We have loads of U21 Players who would excel in the league (Gray, Bergvall, Odobert, Moore, Tel, Devine etc) but we need to make sure that these players are surrounded by quality and experience. They won't be glamorous signings, but bringing in free agents like Rico Henry or Ross Barkley might be the way to go.

The most important two positions next year will be GK and ST, we can't gamble going into another season with question marks over either positions.

I don't care as long as we no longer have to watch Vicario, Romero, Porro, Udogie, Micky, Drag, Biss, Bents, Sarr, Gallagher, Solanke, Tel, Odobert, Muani, Kudus, Richy...

We could make a list with players which we cannot sell in the summer. ( because of injuries )

Xavi
Kulu
Madders
Odobert ( maybe )
Kudus ( maybe )

Think Odobert almost certainly stays. Unless he makes a freakishly quick recovery he won't be fit until a couple months after the window closes, and even then who is gonna want to punt on a guy fresh off an ACL.

On the other hand, reckon Kudus would almost certainly leave barring a major set-back.
