Player Mohammed Kudus

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Just like most of our signings in recent history we got absolutely rinsed for this guy, £60m was an insane fee

If he was £30m everyone would be relatively OK with it, but £60m? nah
Last nights game highlights how bad our recruitment has been. We have paid the same sort of fees for Richy, Solanke, Xavi, Kudus, as they have paid for Kvaratskhelia, Olise, Diaz...its actually disgusting! each one of them 3 from last night are worth all our 4 combined. Completely different sport they play.

Our medical team might be shit but is that why he’s ignoring advice, or is it just because he wants to play at a World Cup? Because I have a feeling it’s the latter.

If they think he needs surgery, he probably needs it.
Would have been nice for them to make that call before months of non-surgery treatment that preceded the setback though...

However, to the main point, Kudus is likely making a dumb decision based on short term wants, which also has the added factor of being likely to screw us over to some degree almost certainly. Now, footballers are thick, I doubt very much he's consciously acting in a manner that will be detrimental to THFC, he'll be hoping he goes off to the WC, helps his country to glory, and his leg is fine and he comes back to us for pre-season I imagine, no matter how unlikely we can all see that is.

The real irresponsible party here is the Ghana NT. For him to refuse surgery to rectify this problem, you have to assume he's been told by them that they'll take him and play him no matter what. They're the ones who are in a position to be rational and level headed and say to the player "we want you here but won't risk your long term health for it" and they're seemingly not doing that.

Kravadonna - £260k p/w
Olise - £220k a week
Diaz - £230k a week

Richie - £90k a week.
Solanke - £140k a week

You get what you pay for. Transfer fees are an utter nonsense really and don't reflect the true cost of a transfer.

Ok, so add up all the transfer fees and combine all the wages are we have roughly paid the same for our 4 as they have for their 3. It's terrible value we have got.

Kudus 55m 150k a week = 5 years 94m
Simons 52m 195k a week = 5 years 103m
Richy 60m 90k a week = 5 years 83m
Solanke 65m 140k a week = 5 years 101m
total 381m

Diaz 65m 230k a week = 125m
Olise 51m 220k a week =108m
Kvar 59m 260k a week = 127m
total 360m

Yeah....awful business.

Pretty sure Solanke is around £90k

Agree with that. The transfer fee is (mostly) club PR. The real value is within the wages per week

But who in their right mind gives Solanke £140k pw. He’s a Championship striker.

Yeah the fee is 50% of the story.

Diaz was on £3m a year at Liverpool. £60k a week approx.
Nice rise in earnings!

Wonder what he agreed to join us for, before Liverpool gazumped us. Probably about £20k a week plus performance bonuses.
:levylol:

I can't think of a single point in time where we have paid top fees for established players and paid them top money out of the box. It just isn't in the THFC business model. There's the occasional incidents like Perisic on a free.
Our business model has always been to pay reasonable fees but keep wages low. Wages are a pure liability on a balance sheet, where as a transfer fee can be treated as an asset, especially younger players that could feasibly increase in value. It's not about selling them, it's about being legally obliged to disclose all of our assets and liabilities.

Some clubs hide behind, what they call, moderate spending.
City and Arse try to claim their spending is less than others in the premier league, but they both pay mega wages. And I have very little doubt there's under the table payments here there and everywhere on top of large salaries.

worse, the fees are just a fig leaf for the club to claim they've spent. they can't even take all that fee money and pay one of these higher level players because it would upset the hallowed wage structure that allows the owners to line their pockets while we wallow in mediocrity. it's our entire recruitment strategy: who can we get who will play here for less? the result is the soft hollow squad we have now.

"Go look it up" is hilarious. I have and not seen anything. Being that you're the one that stated that these two things happened can you point me to any sort of evidence that shows this?
Go look it up big fella. And while you're at it, go and fetch me those damning stats that showed that Archie Gray was the worst midfielder in the league that you said you had. You ducked me on that, just want to see how you measured the metrics for that one.

Thanks.

Lol you're wasting your time, every time this guy is asked to back something up he can't do it as he knows it's BS and then try and deflect and put it back on you...:davieshmm:

Weren’t most of his assists corners? We actually started playing better football when Odobert came in instead of Kudus. Bentancur missing at the same period was probably more a reason. Completely lost any sort of control without him in midfield. I’m sure other players were missing in that period too.

We could do with him now as we’re so short of options but I think he’s a terrible player to have In a functioning team. If his head down dribbling threatens teams in behind, could put up with his decision making but he carries the ball in circles in field. apart from Brentford when he was playing up against a cb out of position he cant actually beat anyone on the outside and go direct. Terrible scouting and signing. Hope we can flip him

We should be comparing Kudus to the wingers last night considering the money we paid and what he's earning, its not a million miles away, but hes a million miles away from them in quality. The only thing he can match them on is physicality, when it comes to the main ingredients on what makes a footballer, hes well short.

He wouldn't get anywhere near a proper footballing side, he's an individual for a really poor side....West Ham basically.
