Villa need 2 points from last 4 games to guarantee 5th and CL football. Their next league game after us is Burnley.
Surely they will rest a 3-4 players today to give them best chance on Thursday and then play as close to full strength team as they can against Burnley.
Normally a draw away against them would be a good result but a win today would take us out of bottom 3 and hammers have that lot next so these next 2 games could open up a gap for us and put huge pressure on hammers in their last 2 games.

Think we are asking a hell of a lot just hoping for a draw.
A win is what we need, very hard to see that happening.

I think they will rotate cautiously, which will provide us with an opportunity. It still won't be easy though. We have nothing to lose at this point, and everything to gain though, and they have a lot of important games still in the balance- if we pounce on them with all our energy and willpower it certainly will make them think twice about matching our physicality. I feel confident RDZ will at least be able to convey that message, though of course it's up to the team to actually make things happen.

I’m not sure why so many people want players to be rested?

Imagine you’ve played Thursday you’re definitely a bit tired and maybe carrrying a knock or two.
You’ve got a huge game on Thursday coming up. One of the biggest of your life. Your mind is going to be on that. Human nature.

There’s a team coming to play you who are literally fighting for survival. Have no doubt De Zerbi will be in this teams psyche by now.

These players won’t and probably can’t give 100% for 90 minutes. That’s football.

Or instead they get replaced with hungry subs who want to try to get on the Bench for Thursday and maybe force themselves into the managers thoughts for the possible final.

10 of these 11 Villa players have just lost two games on the trot. They didn’t look great at Fulham either.

Let’s make it 3. That’s the magic number.

This. Villa can afford to rest players and lose against us. They have the EL semis to want to advance and will surely do all that, any sane manager will. The game against Burnley is to make up for the dropped points tonight, if they do. So no way they won't put their eggs in the semis basket.

I don't care if they play their first or second team I just want them to lay down and let us win
we need 3 wins from 4 games and that should do us

I think two wins will be enough. Woolwich will bitch slap WH next week and the bar codes away will be tough for them. They will probably beat Leeds at home so thats 3 points plus the 2 they are in front of us. Two wins or one win and a couple of draws will suffice. Today is a massive opportunity. If we can some how find a win today and jump above them, then I think they will crack under the pressure especially if Woolwich get an early one next weekend. We have to get level or in front of them before the final game of the season.

What an absolutely awful KO time, will just walk around shaking of nerves and get nothing useful done until the game starts.

Don't get me wrong, I probably wouldn't have got anything done anyway but still...

Nobody saw Forest going to Sunderland and battering them 0-5

We shouldnt be relying on what WestSpam do or don't do

We need to win every remaining game. If that's not enough to stay up then so be it.

We can agree to disagree on this one!

Will bookmark and come back in 7 games time and see if between them Spurs and West Ham won 21 points.

Right now I’m saying they won’t have.

Whilst none of us know for certain, I don't think we need 3wins.

I think 2 wins could well be enough.

Guiardiola and Arteta in similar circumstances would absolutely change their teams with the bigger European game in mind, and with it being a possible 4 games in 12 days.

Any muscle strain now probably means the end of the season, so pragmatism seems obvious.
