Of course I am you silly little goose
I think this is the issue: the people who talk about Romero as our one "world class" player seem to be talking about an alternate reality where Romero is always available and playing at somewhere near to his his best regularly for Spurs.Im amazed there are people still with an appetite to litigate this most obvious issue. Romero under all the right conditions is an asset...but I say its obvious it isn't in the EPL, he is a good international tournament footballer but a very average one in this league. Sell replace with a committed experienced centerback.
I watched Jonathan Tah for Bayern the other day, he is an old school dominant head it block pass the ball calmly centerback. Nothing special but so much better than what we have got out of our so called world class players. We can easily replace Romero or VDV Spurs fans criminally over rate our players. Tapsoba, Sensei, Van Heke, Lecroix they are all as good and more reliable than the two we have. I recall saying for years Mark Guehi was a much better EPL centerback than our two total denial.Spurs fanbase is really irrational
I think you're wrong. The usual suspects are going to be very annoyed when they realise that De Zerbi loves Romero because he's very good at football - especially De Zerbi football.
I don't think Romero's going anywhere and that's probably for the best because De Zerbi is probably the best possible manager for him to work with.
I think you're wrong.
De Zerbi needs to say what he says because we are in a relegation fight so naturally he's going 'to big up' the captain.
We need to secure safety first before I start even thinking about who stays and who goes but Romero should be sold regardless of league (and Vicario).
I think in theory Romero is a perfect RDZ player: passionate, good on the ball, great at passing through the lines.I think you're wrong.

Why are people so keen to sell Romero?
Look at the top teams in the league, they have 3-4 good choices at CB.
If we keep Vusokovic out on loan again (which I think we should, ideally to a prem team), then Romero, Van De Ven, Senesi and Danso would be good.
I think he polarises the support. Can't argue with what you say here at all.Well you'll have to take it up with De Zerbi not me so... Whatever.
I will just pick you up on one small thing though. When you said this:
We're coming up on the one year anniversary of Bilbao. That's when we won our first European Trophy for 40 years.
Christian Romero was the Player of that Tournament and Man of the Match in the final. So I disagree that he's "been bringing this club's mentality down for the past 18 months". I would level that charge at the incompetent people in charge of our club who replaced a trophy winning manager with a pragmatist whose first promise was that we'd lose games.
But maybe that's just me.![]()
One shouldn’t be, no. But I’ve seen on here and elsewhere some talk of the last two matches being proof positive we are better without him. Which is shite. If anyone feels we are better off without him for more widescale reasons, that’s just dandy. But to be quoting the last two matches as full evidence is nuttier than squirrel spunk.Well one cannot seriously be that stupid, right?
First of all, there is no such comparison with Madders and Kulu - they have missed whole of this season.
Then reagarding Kudus - we were racking up way more points with him than without. With him being fit for whole year (and currently playing instead of Kolo Muani) we would not be in relegation battle, it is clear as day.
But more importantly - Romero is not just a player like any other. He is captain of the club.
Yet he clearly lets the team down much more often than many of his teammates. Take just the games he has missed due to suspensions this season. And don't get me started of his blatant mistakes and lapses of concentration.
He absolutely can be a good addition and front foot defender. But for a CB you need consistency and stable level of displays. With Romero you can and will get 2/10 one day and 10/10 the following. That is not a leader to guide the team through rough and tricky relegation fight where every mistake could prove fatal.
I think he polarises the support. Can't argue with what you say here at all.
But, I think we can do better. Someone who can bring more stability and assuredness across a season. A decent CB, and the temperament to avoid the things Romero does that we all wish he doesn't.
Yeah, I did sort of assume we had a competent recruitment strategy when I was writing that.Sure but the problem is we can also do much much worse - and our recent history in the transfer market doesn't give me much confidence.
I get that he's polarising and maybe it's for the best for both parties if he moves on BUT I tend to believe that we should be surrounding our better players with other better players which usually raises the floor and ceiling for all concerned. this is the mistake we keep making - selling Kane, Son, even going back to Dembele/Walker/Eriksen - and just not replacing them with similar quality. It's been a constant drain and then we find ourselves in the situation we are in.
Vuscovic looks to be a real talent though. So maybe that helps.
We must get rid of all the bad influences, starting at board level. But yeah, Romero & co can fuck right off.First priority this summer is to move him on and select a captain who can be relied on. The team is already showing that they don't need him.
Vuskovic would be a starter here, without questionWhy are people so keen to sell Romero?

Yeah that's possible. I don't get that vibe but it's certainly possible. Again it probably depends on our plans for Vusco and if we stay up.
Vicario will almost certainly go - I doubt very much that De Zerbi will want to lose Romero but I could be wrong.
I would be nervous about who we replace him with though. Maybe De Zerbi has his own targets so we don't have to live with whatever Lange's algorithm throws up.
Why on loan to prem team. If we stay upWhy are people so keen to sell Romero?
