Hold the front page! Merson predicts Villa to beat Spurs.
Hopefully he put his house on it.

I remember being in a Spurs away end, at Villa Park, late 90's, when Merson played for Villa, after his well publicised personal problems.

In those days, Villa were in the habit of handing over the man of the match award, from the previous home game, on the pitch, through their in house master of ceremonies, while the teams were warming up at the next home fixture.

Merson had been the man of the match for Villa for the previous home game so he was called away from his warm up, by the MC, to receive his man of the match trophy and his prize.

Merson, a recovering alcoholic and gambling addict, received a magnum of champagne and tickets for a local casino, in front of the Spurs away end.

For all the atheists on here;

Please make your case for there not being a God.

This was always a winnable game but talking about it and actually doing it are not the same thing.

Very pleased with the Spurs performance and result last night.

Spurs have now played for 270 consecutive minutes, under RDZ, without being behind.

When was the last occasion that happened?

Having said all of that I want to issue a word of caution.

Spurs have beaten a relegated Wolves team and a Villa reserve team that played like strangers.

Leeds at home, Chelsea away and Everton at home will be more difficult.

Spurs look so much better without Vicario and Romero.

Super Kev wants to play for Spurs and Kinsky has the bollocks to deal with balls in the air and play out from the back.

My concern remains regarding Pedro Porro and Udogie not being fit for defensive purpose.

Udogie failed to stop the one cross that Villa scored from last night and Peter Spliff was always in the thick of it when Spurs lost possession down our right side.

They are both defensive liabilities in the same way Vicario and Romero are.

I sincerely hope Spurs are not punished for picking any of these players in the remaining games.

We fielded our best team available, missing 8 or 9 of our first 11. You can't reframe this as anything other than a monumental success.
This is what absolutely does my head in. EVERY game we win there's a caveat, in that the other team were shit, didn't turn up, were missing players etc.

We went at them from minute 1 through to the end of the game, we MADE them look shite with a squad that is missing more through injury than they replaced.

In a short space of time, RDZ has made a monumental difference to the way we play and the mentality that goes with it. We were superb yesterday, and the analysis of the game, whichever channel(s) you watched on, bore that out.

RDZ reckons we can win all of our remaining games. After that performance, if we maintain that same hunger, desire and bravery, I'm inclined to believe him.

Yesterday reminded me of early Angeball when we also played with great energy, desire and intensity and teams couldn't cope with it. I hope this version lasts longer than 10 games.

Can't see West Ham beating Woolwich or Newcastle.....one more win might be enough.

It seems that Bentancur and Palhinha weren't the problem. The problem was Franks.

Bentancur is still grossly inconsistent.

Hoping to see a full revamp at CM in the summer.

OUT: Bent, Biss, Palhinha.
IN: 2 x starters
KEEP: Gall, Grey & Berg

.....Finally give Archie & Lucas the no pressure development they deserve.

I said we played great and yes we fully earned the win. Probably our best 90 minute performance of the entire season.

But c'mon man, that was a weakened Villa team and they didn't even have a shot on target until the 96th minute. We made them look bad...but they also played shite and clearly had Europa in mind.

Fuck all that. Have you forgot how weakened WE are?

I love how the narrative is that we beat an undermanned Aston Villa , did they bother looking at who the Fuck we had missing ???

Thought the same thing.

We have eleven out injured but West Ham don't look at that fact only the result.

Out of sympathy perhaps the PL should award Spurs four point for a win and two for a draw.

If Woolwich were nine points clear in the PL, i am sure they would have rested players over the weekend.
