Player Mikey Moore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Mikey's final stats for his season at Rangers where he's had a lot of playing time for an 18 year old :

47 appearances in all competitions (SPL, domestic cups and europe) , total mins played 2778 mins, with 7 goals and 4 assists (11 Goal involvements)

Just as a comparison, Mathys Tel (aged 21) had following stats this season at Spurs :

36 appearances in all competitions, total mins 1,525 mins with 4 goals and 2 assists.

PL is clearly a lot higher competition than SPL, but Tel is 3 years older so should cope better, but his 'goal involvement' productivity is not dissimilar to Moore.

I cannot see Spurs doing much more than replacing/upgrading our 2 forwards, Kolo Muani and Richarlison (plus other positions), leaving us with Solanke, Kudus, 2 new experienced forwards, Tel and Odobert (out injured until Nov), so I can see both Lankshear and likely Moore joining the forward options, certainly in preseason and probably beyond.

We also have Maddison, but we won't know Kulusevski's position until preseason at best, so think we need to look at all the forward options we have.

Completely unfair considering that a) the strength of the prem in comparison to Scotland which is around league one outside of Celtic.
And b) Tel for the majority of the season under Frank and Tudor has pretty much been playing for the worst attacking team in the league and one of the worst teams in the league period.

Completely agree, but the post is not intended as a pop at Tel, just trying to put Moore's stats in some kind of context, 3 years younger than Tel but an easier league.

The causes of our poor attack are a combination of injuries (Maddison and Kulusevski, our best creative players out for season, Solanke who was one of our top 4 goal involvement contributors last season, Kudus out for almost half a season, Odobert also out for best part of half a season) plus Kolo Muani not looking good like the player he was at Frankfurt or Juvertus etc.

So a lot left on shoulders who were fit including Richarlison and Tel, and unfortunately whilst I don't doubt their effort they were not able to overcome the limited creativity in the team or numbers of fit forwards and score/assist as much as was needed. Worth mentioning Tel got 4 goals and 2 assists in 29 appearances season before, not prolific

So next season we need to have (a) better luck with injuries - eg Maddison fit for all season would help creativity (b) Upgrades for Kolo Muani and Richarlison

And with that we hope to have a strong enough forward line to allow all our forwards to get more goals and assists than we've got this season.

I keep seeing this League One comparison. And I’ll always ask how many matches have you watched of League One and Scottish Prem to make this comparison? It’s got to be dozens of each, surely?

And whilst Scottish football is hardly world beating, he is playing against loaded defences every week. Not the easy open goal most people who have little or no knowledge of football up here seem to think it is.

I was being kind, league one is actually ranked higher than the Scottish league :angesmile2:

Don't know what to tell you, every ranking has the English championship 6th with the Scottish league not making the top 15 so that should tell you that at its best it's on par with league one
You're welcome to look for yourself or just believe whatever you wanna believe
:paraticiwink:
I can’t even begin to wonder what this ranking is based on. Where would one even begin to rank two different leagues in two different countries?

Pretty much would have to be performances in joint competitions like European trophies. Not much League One action there, so can’t be that. Salaries are a mental reason to rank clubs, but would be pretty similar I suppose. Attendances? Nope, Scottish Prem would win on numbers and fans per head of population. Honestly no clue where to start.

What I do know is that unless you’ve spent many hours watching both levels of the game, against comparable opposition, any kind of ranking or comparison is gibberish. So, yes, I’ll believe what I want to believe and it’s not this bullshit.

Really hope Mikey is the real deal , but he has a lot to prove and a long way to go to achieve what some on here expect . Sadly that gooner kid currently has achieved more at a younger age , which hopefully proves to be a false dawn .

Personally I have high hopes for Vuskovic and Melia , although the Melia belief has more questions than Mikey . So here is hoping all 3 come together to give us some generational talent at the same moment in time. We are so far off the pace of being competitive that ENIC will never pay what is needed to expedite a return to the upper echelons of the PL .

Ahh fuck it after typing that last paragraph I’m all in on Mikey , I gotta have hope . So come on you 3 beautiful youngsters tear it up within 2 years . We need you so very very badly

Umm isn’t tel a forward so is part of the attack and therefore meant to make a difference.

Vuskovic is a different category to Moore and Gray/Bergvall for that matter. He is the best CB in Germany already at 18 and would be pushing to start for almost any team going. He certainly replaces Romero for us.

As for Moore he looked really good for us in his first few games playing off the left but was poor when we played him on the right. The positive thing is his passing and decision making is top but he sometimes struggled with the physical nature of the game which is normal for most teenagers. I have hope for Moore simply because his brain and technical skill is Premier League level, needs to work on his power and not get bullied as easily as he did with us.

Well I think I implied that , I basically said l had hopes but doubts about Mikey and Mason Melia . I raised no reservations about Vuskovic . I think we are on the same page

I agree with AYid here, a lot of players come and fail in the SPFL, this has been the case at Rangers for some time. But Moore has been able to shine when he was getting written off with a significant portion of the Gers support.

Inevitably, his quality came through though still pretty much raw but that's not unexpected for an 18 year old. The Gers fans will be sad to see him leave.

I believe Amad failed in Scotland and is a pretty decent player for United now.

Amad got chucked into the deep end after getting a start against a rampaging Ange Celtic side under the floodlights (they won 3-0). He got slated after which was quite unfair and never really recovered from the experience.

So there is that where you might be comparing other leagues with the SPFL, they don't have the cauldron of the old firm matches which can make or break you as player over there.

Worth remembering Moore was 17 when playing for us last season, few players of that age are going to look good as they have neither experience nor the physique to handle it.

Moore at angers this season still only 18 but looking a far far better player, whilst at same time there are things he can improve on, but he's already looking far more equipped for the physical side of the game.

He could benefit from another loan next season, but equally given Spurs lack of forwards (especially if both Kolo Muani and Richarlison leave) and the lack of quality forwards available even in the £50m to £100m bracket, so I can't see Spurs getting more than 2 forwards in, I could see Moore staying next season and doing well with good coaching.

As a comparison, James Maddison, who was 19 at the time, scored 2 and assisted 7 times in 14 appearances when he was on loan in the Scottish Premiership . . .
