That's because we've been shit for at least half the premier league era.
And they absolutely do play better against us than Everton.
The rest have been better so have lost less.
It's not particularly surprising they have beaten us more than anyone else is what I'm saying.

Mate, I will debate with anyone if it's worth it. No need for this to be extended.

The point was the number of times, which is a lot, and that yesterday was not a surprise. Your observations are correct.

Beyond that, Everrton haven't beaten us as much, and that won't therefore be a narrative for Sunday.

I was at the game with clients in the Chelsea end.

I thought we were the better side, created a bunch of chances and got into some incredible positions but the front 4 were just no where near good enough. Tel is such a frustrating players as he created one huge chance and contributed massively to the goal but then bombed 4 key moments, including that last one.

Muani is just awful, that mistake for their second was a joke. Get him gone asap.

Bentacur was excellent again, really brilliant performance, he was everywhere and got us out of trouble so many times and moved the ball brilliantly.

The sad reality is, if we had our starting front 4 in those same positions and chances we win that game comfortably. I was with bunch of chalsea fan clients and when we were 2-0 up they said they really dont understand how its 2-0 and theyve been out played.
It's because we are so porrous. We can't absorb any sort of pressure. We repeatedly make critical errors like Tel did against Leeds , terminal errors. The whole back five is suspect. Maybe one or two of the midfielders in front of them don't track well enough either. Opposition players still have too long to shoot from around the edge of the box or outside of it.
When was the last time we got battered for say 20 minutes but we hung in there and didn't concede ? We can't grind out a result and keep a clean sheet. We are the antithesis of Woolwich. Despite our woeful front line , we do normally score at least one goal a game but it's very rare we keep a clean sheet. So we can be very comfortable for long periods and then bang, first serious attack and we concede.

Yep, agree with all that

The summer recruitment on the face of it was fine. Most thought that at the time.

None has been a resounding success, and much as I don't rate Kudus, hs absence to injury has hurt us. Simons and Palhinha have had their moments, but the players we have bought, loan or permanent have not made us better. And January was a disgrace.

But if we are just to expect this same sh!t next season, I'm not sure I want that, but the solution won't necessarily be easy, because too many of this squad are smeared, but moving them on may not be easy.
Whether we avoid the drop or not , this is going to be a long way back.
Gooners winning the league and could win the CL shows us the club is a fucking disgrace at board level, cunts all of them.

Yep, that's all true, and because we simply don't really score more than 1 or 2 goals, it's nearly always within the grasp of our opponents, which is why scoring first for us is very important.

Not many teams do score more than two goals a game. Woolwich beat an already relegated Burnley 1-0. Bournemouth and city scored one each. Two very good attacking teams. We were the oddball this week. We conceded two against an out of form , weakened Chelsea team. Clean sheet or one goal like all the other teams this midweek and we are now safe.
And yes it's almost critical we score first or don't concede at all because when we do we fall apart for quite a while afterwards.

The single biggest but very important difference that lot made compared to us when they were already doing well was signing Rice for that huge sum but they also got lucky with Raya and Odegaard, neither of whom was ridiculously expensive. They gambled, and won.

They have also benefited by the 2 big Spanish clubs not having the clout of before, which lured Bale from us and Modric. That's helped them massively much as the dimwits on here won't understand.

And then when we lost Kane followed by Son,having some time before lost the other game-changers - Alli and Eriksen, nobody in the club understood the risk it causes or how it turns you from feared to routine.

And then in the last 2 seasons,on top of all that our injuries have brought us here.

And I think it would be quite wrong to completely dismiss the reality that with better or more normal levels of injuries I think we would be at least 10 to 15 points better off, without exaggeration..

That won't be written in the history books of PL 2025/26.

Yep, we just don't do anything that well or have potency to scare teams but Everton have also shown recent signs of fragility, so in that regard it's not maybe the worst opponent, and I reiterate we are fortunate to be at home. Has to be better, despite the added pressure.

We would lose to Chelsea's academy but it's a hex against them.

Yeah completely agree. Sadly Thats what spending huge on players gets you but the positives are we went there and did out play them with countless players out.

If we stay up, with 2-3 quality signings im excited for things under de zerbi.

Was jut so frstrating watching our front 4 in the final 3rd. Was soul destroying
2-3 quality signings won't be near enough to transform us from relegation candidates to something "exciting" sadly.

And we don't do "quality signings", we do second rate signings.

Everton 6th best team in the PL away from home. Unlucky to "only" draw at selhurst Park. Unlucky to lose to west ham. They were the better team. Actually gave the goons a fright and were right in the game until the 97th minute. I'm just hoping they have lost form or Leeds do us a favour.

Direct and indirect free kicks and penalty kicks can only be awarded for offences committed when the ball is in play.

It's the first sentence on this webpage.

The thing for me is that does it say anywhere in the laws that a continuation of a foul that start being committed before the ball was in play and continues once the ball has become in play should not be given a foul.

The rule is stupid. You can basically foul as long as you do it before the ball comes in to play, nevermind that you've unfairly impeded an opponent.

The continuation rule is very common in other sports to stop exactly this situation, such as basketball.

Also the narrative around when a foul starts and ends is nonsense. On sky after they showed a freeze frame of when the ball was being kicked saying the foul had ended basically at the point when VDV was on the floor, but how does a referee decide when a foul has ended? A player doesn't have to end up on the floor to be considered a foul, cucurella was holding VDV throughout the entire process which makes it a foul before VDV ends up on the floor. At no point did the analysis on TV after show the next freeze frame when the ball is in play to show that VDV was still being impeded.

It's all bent. I had exactly the same view down the goal line live in the stadium and I shouted penalty straight away. The ref had no idea what to do in that situation and took the easy option to replay the corner.

All VAR deliberations and communications between the booth and on field official should be shown on the broadcast in real time. There's no argument against it unless they have something to hide.
Yep exactly like in rugby and cricket.

The technology isn't the problem. It's how it's being used and ultimately it's a tool to create a narrative.
The clear and obvious rule is the perfect facade to hide behind.

Not replacing him was the issue.
Yeah - I still think selling Johnson was the right move. He was uber-wank and we had a good offer on the table. We've been horrific at selling for like a decade and we need to do more deals like that.

Not getting in a replacement - even on loan - when we knew Kudus was out for a few months and we were in freefall was gross negligence.

The handling of the Jan window alone should be reason enough for Lange to get sacked. Let alone the litany of other errors he's made.

I agree with most of that , especially the two big Spanish clubs not quite having the pull or money anymore.
The one thing I disagree with is Raya , we were in for him and negotiating and baulked at £40m and went and signed Vic for what was it , £15m?
The goons , who were on their financial PSR limit came in after us and somehow negotiated it down to £28-30m AND as a loan deal with obligation to pay later.
The same thing happened with Trossuard, who Levy offered £12m for , the goons came in and paid the already cheap £25m asking price or thereabouts.
Eze is another one. Those three players have all contributed , especially Raya and Trossuard. They have built a massive squad of good , solid players with not much drop off when using the squad. That's what has one them the title , not their starting eleven. It's a squad game and ours is woeful which I think has contributed to the injuries. Not being able to rotate because of the big drop off so our managers don't rotate much. Yes we've had ridiculous amount of injuries but the squad had holes in it everywhere and a lack of quality in depth.

Good post. The Johnson deal was a good one for us , he's been turd for Palace.
Not replacing and / or using the money on Gallagher was the issue.
Just obvious , easy signings as they become available. Where's the planning ? The scouting ?
How can Brentford , Brighton , Bournemouth, Palace etc continually find these players for not much money but we pay double or treble for duds despite having a bigger budget not only for signings but wages and a bigger scouting network.
