Management Vinai Venkatesham - CEO

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Maybe this is just me trying to see the better in people but I think that it is just Vinai being diplomatic.

From a professional standpoint, what else was he gonna say?

With that being said Frank is getting a tremendous amount of good will from the media still for some reason. As if the decline only started when we repalced him with Tudor.
When he says Frank is an excellent human being or some such it is probably the only true statement in the interview. Nobody doubts that, but he was still a totally wrong appointment.

And it's not just that the two things are inconsistent with one another. Both the sucking up to Levy initially and scapegoating him for all the problems now are being done in a way that's just nakedly self-serving and reactive to the narrative in the moment. Someone used the word "unctuous" earlier and that's exactly it, the sense of a salesman desperate to tell you what you want to hear is palpable with this guy.

Virtually everyone on here at the time claimed it was a good appointment 😂
The right appointment
I was definitely more skeptical than most, but still, it seems clear in retrospect that his unsuitability for the job should have been more obvious to those actually interviewing him than to the outside world.

We weren't his first suitor from a bigger club, but all the others correctly deduced that he wasn't up for a bigger, brighter spotlight.

I know, but he also made it very clear the club just wasnt ambitious, and he was basically swimming against the tide trying to achieve success

This is why the culture in the club is what it is
Mourinho said the same.

Poch spoke of a nice house with second hand furniture

Ange spoke of the "to dare is to do" slogan being everywhere but the club doing everything but.

The culture and ambition of the club was a festering pool of complacency and the drive for sporting excellence was non existent.

Something had to change. It's gonna take some time to put right so many years of such blatant neglect with no accountability.

To reach the ultimate pinnacle of winning the top honors can take time, but establishing seriousness and credibility can happen pretty quickly.

It would be an absolute shock coming from this lot though.

Guy is saving his skin or protecting his reputation like Conte but Levy prioritising business over football and Joe Lewis not giving a shit is what we have all known. Just funny to hear the club admit it.

There can be no delusions anymore about Joe and Daniel at this club. It’s not been good enough and just not being Alan Sugar isn’t acceptable.

It's pure bullshit mate, it's strictly an effort to co-opt the fan protests. "Oh, you think Levy didn't care about winning? We TOTALLY agree! How terrible that Evil Daniel didn't have trophies as his highest priority. Our squeaky brand new operation will CARE so darned hard about winning trophies (as we conduct business under the exact same principles with the exact same goals as Levy did)"

Yes. I was one of the few that got shouted down for calling the appointment out for the sham it was at the time.

Daniel Levy's parting gift.

At least it seems we've now pushed the boat out to hire a manager worthy of taking on such a big job and given him a salary that suits the position.

Hopefully, and I mean hopefully, its a sign of the things to come on the playing side too.

Whilst it might be true, he’s definitely playing to the gallery to save his own skin.

He knows that large swathes of the fanbase hated Levy, so who better to blame for his and the boards ineptitude!

There’s ways to say things without throwing the previous incumbent under the bus. It just looks so crass.

Jordan is right, who would want to follow this guy?!

Yep, fuck Vinai for not moving in January, but tbh in that interview a lot of that prognosis of how Levy and his archaic board were running the club was absolutely spot on. He said this in the interview on the channel today and it's been extremely obvious for all of us who were getting accused of "melting" etc by the Levy lovers:

"What has happened in football over the last 5 years is there's been an unbelievable acceleration of quality across all Premier League clubs in football operations"

Whether you like him or not, whether you think he's "pointing the finger or not", he absolutely 100% on the money with this diagnosis.

There's a reason that us and West Ham have experienced a massive dropoff in recent years, because Levy and Sullivans ways of running a football club are inadequate in 2026.

I don't like Vinai, I don't like how he kept Lange and Paratici, 2 god awful Levy appointments, I don't like how he wasn't more active in removing Frank and moving in January, but he is absolutely right in his diagnosis of the club.

The bit about prioritising football is clearly not bullshit. His motivate for saying it though is clearly self preservation.

How many times have we heard these end-of-season promises of prioritising the football and strengthening the team?

A promise is a comfort to a fool.
