Leao
Tel

Kudus
Savhino

Id take that tbh for a season with no Europe . Leao is so so, but on his day he's unplayable. It's possible new environment will revitalise him
Absolutely shocking imagine being the centre forward with that lot wide.

Rather have Maddison, Gallagher, Solanke and Porro and save the money

Leao might prove me wrong but not with the other three stinking it out

The fact is that barely any of the players that didn't make it here actually got given a chance.

People then include the fact that they stalled in their career to 'prove' that they weren't good enough, but the main factor for young players is opportunity. Nkoudou especially was given less than 300 minutes, averaged 8-10 mins per appearance. Went on to do well in Turkey and had a near 1-in-2 scoring record over 3 seasons in the Saudi Pro League. Clearly was a player there but we barely saw him. Same with Njie; he played 8 times.

To put it into context, we just gave Kolo Muani nearly 1700 mins of game time, which is 3.5 times as many as we gave the "N'obodies". Not a single person on this forum can really speak from any form of knowledge or authority as to how good they would have been if they'd have been signed by the likes of Brighton, Brentford or Bournemouth. That's pretty much the difference between the Kante, Mahrez, Mbuemo types. None of them were that special before they were given opportunity.

As a club, that's the exact point we fail at.
I'm not really sure a career in Turkey is a point proven, let alone Saudi.
Not in the context of trying to get players who can play Premier league football.
I also have no idea what the hit rate is like for teams like Palace and Brighton etc. How many do they punt on that never make it?
Morgan Gibbs white ……….. Oooh yeah

Not happening. Don't do it to yourself.

Who are you're ideal options?

I see alot of people knocking other peoples suggestions but I really dont know what or who they expect given the lack of options out there and considering we are building from 2x 17th place finishes.

You say expensive purchases ( and to us 40 million to 65 million is a huge amount) but Man City were spending 50 million on players 10 years ago ( Kyle Walker being one of them)
If we want to dine at the top table we need to start dishing out a lot of money on transfers and wages and also expect to spend on an occasion duff player as City,Liverpool, Chelsea have.
Its a long road back up to the top.

Not just expensive purchases, the players i listed were all obtainable and not expensive at all. My point is, there are plenty of players who are now coveted by the top 3 or 4 sides in the league, who moved to other PL clubs for cheap, and for some inexplicable reason, we didn't sign them. Now we have missed the boat as they have better options or the other clubs will ask 100 million for them.

So it's not about spending big sums, it's about being better at scouting.

But whilst we are on the point about spending money. Yes, if we want to get to the top, we will need to show ambition by spending big on proven PL players.

If the board are serious about competing, we should be throwing 80 million down for MGW. We need to do a mix of signing elite talent in waiting before they become big, and spending big money on proven PL players who are stars at other clubs.

But our problem is we are doing neither. Our last big hit in the transfer market was Son 10 years ago. Since then we haven't signed a single player who has gone on to become an elite talent.

That is shocking.

Conte has left, hasn't he?

Actually, we could take the decision out of their hands. They can’t meet the terms of the option to buy, which requires the entire fee be paid up front. The fact that we’re negotiating a slightly larger fee spread over several years suggests that we’ve already determined that we should sell Devine.
Oh, I'm sure the club is going to sell him. I was just wondering why - and imagining what he would do if we told him he had a role to play in the upcoming season.

There are so many examples of other clubs signing genuine elite talent from other teams and lower leagues. Look at Palmer, Anderson, MGW, Wharton, Rodgers, Alex Scott, even players like Krupi. There are so many more but they are only what has come to mind immediately.
The thing is that none of those players were "elite talent" when they were signed, the were young potential that have become very good due to a lot of trust and playing time.
That's why they went to the clubs that they went to.

People here are already writing off Bergvall and Gray, saying that they need loans and you yourself are writing off young Odobert who has suffered two major injuries since he's been with us (and he's 21 and 'only' cost 20m, not really big money).

We're in that tricky spot where if we want to be competing for the top honours, it's bloody hard to put faith in young players and even more so when you're experienced players aren't actually very good.
Plus, the rest of the EPL is so rich now, even the smallest clubs can snap up everything but the very brightest young talents and can give them proper gametime.

Yes.

Bloke is toxic.

It's not a coincidence that he constantly falls out with players/boards, and whoever else.

Could actually see our crew bidding on Rashford, he ticks some of their boxes, left winger needed, prem experience and most importantly will be relatively cheap. Wages would be an issue as would be keeping him motivated. On his day he can terrorise defences, just doesn't have enough of those days. RDZ did work wonders with players like Welbeck and Milner, just not sure Rashford has the necessary fight and desire.

I think you will be disappointed as the only way to buy the number of players you list is to buy lots of mediocre players for £30m each.

Our aim has to be to improve the squad and that means buying a smaller number of good experienced players (say another 4 after Robertson and Seesi ), probably paying a lot more than £30m for each player, and if necessary add a few youth (eg Vuskovic, Devine, Lankshear) whilst offloading maybe 10 players - Vicario, Romero, Dragusin, Davies, Bissouma, Palhinha, Sarr, Kolo Muani, Richalison, Solomon - so we end up with a technically better squad to play the less than 50 games next season rather than the 60 games with europe we played last season.

Sure, not every area of the squad is upgraded - that can only be done over a few transfer windows - but the right players in will make a big difference. Swapping out the players listed above for similar levels will not
I'm not suggesting we overhaul the whole squad, it was RDZ who said it, saying he only seen a dozen being of the desired quality. However, we all know we won't address everything, we rarely address the necessary. The two freebies are a good start, but shifting players will be as important as getting others in, another thing we have historically been poor at. We need a lot of ruthlessness this window.
As for players at 30m, that doesn't mean they are all mediocre, look at likes of Kroupi signed for much less, it can be done. What I did say is I don't trust out current so called leaders , such as Lange , to get it right.
