Honestly. My devotion to obsessing this man in each and every circumstance comes across as unhealthy. I've never seen anything like it.

I just want to let people who aren't galaxy brained maniacs know that they can rest assured the stadium would absolutely be referred to as White Hart Lane if the club weren't committed to seeking a corporate sponsor, they aren't idiots.
It's more that calling it "White Hart Lane" would mean any potential naming sponsor would lose out to the traditional name. Like no one said "The Sports Direct Arena" because it was St James Park. If Everton called their new stadium and kept "Goodison Park", no one would call it Hill Dickinson. "The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium" was a very obvious strategy to skip the 'which club plays there' in all of the marketing.

that isn't to say that they called it "The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium" because they don't intend and never intended to sell the rights - it's more that there's a significant advantage, commercially, to not calling it "White Hart Lane" which is a reasonably arbitrary label for anyone but a tradtionalist and offers a satisfying "Your Name Here" for anyone willing to pay the record amount we are asking.

I reckon the global reach is worth a fortune when considering international fans probably don't even know a lot of the clubs outside of the Liverpool/Man Utds

Right, this is exactly correct.

And this is balderdash that directly contradicts the above and it hurts my brain that anyone has spun themselves into thinking it.

We will get a corporate sponsor in due course. Failing to do so is definitely one of the things the Lewises are mad at Levy for, he fucked that up, the best price we could have gotten is likely behind us.

I have no idea why you think this. Most followed/supported Premier League team on TikTok, with all of the big performing artists alongside the name "Tottenham Hotspur (Stadium)".

I'm surprised you're dismissing the notion that it has a significant value

Two 17th placed finishes , employing Frank , Lange and the Gooner CEO contradicts the last 3 words imho. But I agree ref seeking a sponsor, although stadium sponsorship deals today pay less than 10-15 years ago I believe , I fear we missed the peak.

Rule the Roost did an interview with a bloke who works in that naming rights/branding space (whatever you call it) and he basically said while there's some value to having the club's name tied to the venue given the NFL ties, concerts, and whatnot, it's hard to truly measure. I don't think there's really any evidence to suggest we're gaining more value from this approach than we would from cold hard cash.

Personally I just think Levy fully intended to get a naming rights deal but did his usual thing, tried to be clever, and priced us out of the market then was too stubborn to back down.

There's a reason every other club with a new stadium has just sold their rights immediately. A bird in the hand...

Again though, the club hired Todd Kline especially for it. Why are we inventing that Levy 'tried to be clever' or 'priced us out'

The stadium opened to a pandemic and the resulting psuedo-recession that followed. it wouldn't have made sense to 'panic' and go for a cheap deal when we're talking about looking for a 20+ year deal, not a one season "Pizza Hut Stadium" job

I mean none of us really know the ins and outs, it's all speculation, but Levy will ultimately have been the one setting the asking price and signing off (or not) any deal. You think Mr Kline had that much control? Levy always called the shots.

We are nowhere near as close to those teams as this graphic suggests.

I can't confirm this, but I've heard a finance "expert" suggest the favourable rates Levy got on the stadium finance were based on us having a low wage to revenue ratio.
So we have to keep it low now or risk refinancing at a higher rate.
