what I took away from the game..
lennon needs to be benched for townsend
capoue should be a certain starter and the other spot should be contested between holtby, dembele, sandro, bentelab and pauli.
dier looked solid and looks to have a great future...
lloris is world class and needs to be kept for as long as possible..
i wouldnt mind starting soldado for the next game, i like ade but as we all know he blows abit hot and cold, i feel soldado can really have an impact this season.
Kane looks to be coming along nicely as well..
naughton was unlucky so i wont crucify him and with walker injured and dier not a natural RB i dont see much option but to perservere with him.
i didnt see much of poch's style tbh but given its very early in the season wasnt expecting much..excited for the upcoming season and a good 3 points..

all things considered it was a good start and can serve as a foundation to be built upon..

There is clearly lots that need to be worked on before the players are fully acclimatised to MP's tactics. There were times where it felt very similar to last season, though.

Any idea why Davies didn't play? Rose was awful.
 
To get through that horror show with a win is just brilliant. Everything that looked so promising in the Schalke game was gone though. No idea what happened, but maybe spam is just that good at fucking up a system and imposing their cave man tactics on a match. The big positive was of course Dier. Lloris with a match winner save, but many heavy first touches. Lovely assist by Kane. Pretty much everything else was well below par. Our passing in general was shocking :lennon:
 
I'm sure this has already been discussed but I'm at the airport at the moment and unfortunately do not have time to go through all the threads. Why did soldado not start/ play at all? And Where's vertonghen and chiriches?
