Roberto Soldado

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I said he was finished in December. I got called a gooner troll, got 3 disagrees and basically got told to fuck off even though my post was pretty sympathetic to him.

Our supporters have been fantastic towards him. I wish things had been different. But, I think if he's here next season (I doubt he will be) our support may turn on him. There's a threshold and he's dangerously close to red lining.
Agreed mate. In fact I agree with a lot of the last few pages. I am petrified of a Harry Kane injury now. We'd be fucked. Dembele up front?! We should have brought in a striker in the window and just run with a high wage bill for 6 months. We've now got plenty of time to get on the phone and punt this guy back to Spain. It would be a kindness. If Levy is a cunt about it then I will join the 'Levy Out' camp. But I'm sure even he realises that selling him for a loss is better than keeping him here and watch him cost us places in the next round of Cup competitions.

Imagine if they booed him, he'd have tears streaming down his face, snot bubbles the lot....

I have been saying that for half a season, I hope we never go into a campaign again so thread bare, still season is more than half way through so hopefully fingers crossed we will keep him going.

Remember when people thought Poch's arrival could make Soldado score ?

That was fun

Remember when it was the service...but not because of the system, because AVB was brilliant so it wasnt that....it was because Soldado was too good for the team.
Until Sherwood came along, then it was his fault...the squad was good enough, but Sherwoods system was to blame for Soldado not scoring (even though Kane and Ade were banging them in)

Scoring from open play means nothing!

Then, this season it wasnt the service again and Ade was wasting his place. No one talked about Kane...."Soldado deserves a chance".

But Soldado is not taking his chances when he does play? Now its the service again.

But Kane is banging them in, in the very same team.

HE WILL COME GOOD.

He does not come good.

Silence.

Silence.

More silence.

More silence.

And now nearly two years on..."yep...hmm....errr, yes, Soldado is shit"

The only thing which has surprised me is that it took so many fans (and Poch) this long to figure out how shit he is. The few times he has scored a large number of supporters would say ok THAT is the goal to get him started. His link up play has been overblown as well, he does have some neat flicks here and there but mostly they don't come off and the reason he attempts them is he doesn't have the strength to hold off defenders.

He is utter cack, enough with the excuses if Kane is rested then we must try Ade or Chadli or an academy lad but never this bloke again. He is killing off our season one fluffed sitter at a time.

Go crawl back into your hole sammy. It's unbelievable that you're so upset by people wanting our players to come good and trying to stay positive.

We're all disappointed with what's come of Soldado, but there's really nothing to be gained from practically screaming "HEY GUYS I TOLD YOU ALL ALONG, YES I DID. SEE, I WIN! HE'S SHIT AND YOU'VE ALL JUST BEEN MAKING EXCUSES!"

I think that because he is a trier and has ability that a lot of us Spurs fans were happy to be patient with him, but despite being a fan of him I just do not think it is going to happen for him.

Last nights example was a striker playing with no confidence.

I think the combination of paying £26 mil, him having a great record at Valencia and the fact he seems a nice guy meant people were always going to give him longer than say Ade. In the early days when I questioned his suitably to the team and in particularly his lack of physicality (i.e his lack of hold up play) affecting the team shape, I was meet with it will work out and in my heart I hoped it.

Strikers do two main things, score and provide a focal point for the attack (target man), Bobby seems unable to do either. In some ways I could forgive him for his lack of goals if he was holding the ball up and setting up others around him but he is too easily bullied for that, he spends all game in the defenders pockets. What’s worse is that when Kane comes on and Bobby stays up top we lose a lot of what Kane brings to the team. So it’s more than lack of goals, like Paulinho he affects the team shape/system to it's detriment.

But he's a nice guy.

Well maybe people should have thought about that when they called people gooner troll cunts for seeing that Soldado was shit months ago.

Now the penny has dropped, along with with his most hardened backers support.

Those are the only people crawling back into holes today. The rest of us were not actually surprised by that miss last night.
I didnt expect anything else from him in that situation.

Agree with all you've said. However, one thing which is strange among Spurs supporters is when we have a player which is a fans favourite it is strange as when you criticize them you are accused of not supporting them and getting behind them and the club. It is just a case of him not being good enough and him playing is hurting our football club.

I am truly baffled by the irrational support Soldado has gotten he is probably our worst signing ever in the long history of our football club when you factor in his cost. I mean just last week in the thread with who is our best 11 several people still included Soldado and I just could not fathom why and what would make some of our supporters think that beyound just false prayer of hope.

It is baffling...Im not sure how anybody knows he's a nice guy either.

Seems like a bit of a nasty cunt actually, on the pitch, which isnt a bad thing to me. Thats the only impression I get from him.

Not sure when everyone else met him and had a good old chat.

Maybe its a twitter thing?
Shit footballer should play because he tweeted a funny selfie on a plane

Yeah I don't know how he has gotten this label as such a great bloke. He very well might be but he is terrible at his job.

Our supporters can be strange take Pavlychenko for instance he got so much stick from day 1 and his strike rate for us was about a goal every two matches (including some absolute vital ones) yet people could not wait to see the back of him.

Soldado isn't a shit footballer, he's a quality footballer playing shit.

Is Torres shit? No of course not, he was quality at Liverpool but lost all confidence at Chelsea. Doesn't mean he's suddenly a shit footballer, just out of form.

Is Suarez shit? 4 in 15 suggests so, but this time last year he was considered top 4 in the world. Is he now a shit footballer?

Fucking ridiculous argument. Soldado is class, but he's not doing it for Spurs and never will. We need to sell him, but that doesn't make him shit.

It's a tough one, any player who puts on the Spurs shirt gets my support, at least if they put in the effort, I don't blame Bobby personally for not being good enough as you cannot change who you are but I do find it odd we have been left in a situation where the club has only one good striker and therefore he has to play even if it's clear he is not up to the job. People defending Bobby on his performances might simply feel that all Spurs players deserve our support and therefore may take criticism of personally rather than understanding that you can criticise players without hating them.

In regards to his ability yes he is nowhere near our first 11, anyone who put him there really needs to open their eyes, it's almost like they haven't watched Spurs this year. I have seen a few moderately good performances from him with the occasional goal, I would not call him the worst ever signing, Paulinho for me is in the running for that one getting outclassed by Sheffield United players but he really is nowhere near the standard we need and I am very surprised it took so long for quite a large number of fans to accept what was in front of their eyes.
