December for the players?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Seeing the program here over the holiday time made me wonder, how players and their families handle December.
I mean games the 23 dec,26 dec and 29 december makes for odd options for family unity(mainly for families who live far apart) Do their family travel over to celebrate, do they celebrate at other times, do they view it as any other time etc.
It's mainly the families reactoins i'm kinda curious about.
Looks good with the time open around new year.

Personally I think the big celebration should probably be placed on december the 21'st or 22'nd and be the celebration of the returning light as it originally was.

Also I don't recall ever hearing about professional footballers getting "days off" from match days, besides when sick or when a family member depart.
I suppose it's "part of the deal"

What do you guys think?

Their holidays are undoubtedly resplendent. Their kids probably go to private schools and they live in paid for and big properties.

Thry retire between 32 and 40 and unless they have been silly they can pick and choose their work thereafter, if indeed they need to.

It's a privileged life although there are pressures in getting there and of course staying at the top.

They would not swap their lives for many.

Which i'd expect for most.
However the way the parners, kids and remaining family cope with it is the bigger wonder.
Do they buy a vacation for the entire family at another time of the year instead or how do they do I wonder.
If the family all live close by it should be a none issue, however imagine someone were to need to travel to South America to celebrate with grandparents etc. this doen't leave much space these days, but alternatives exist, I just wonder how they typically effect players and the people around them.

Boxing Day matches presumably means no feasting and drinking the 25th - other people are in the same situation like emergency surgeons, police, pilots etc. They work around it. But i guess they're not on duty around the holiday season for ten years in a row.
