Hi everyone. I posted in the introduce yourself thread but if you didn't see, hi I'm Amy, been a Spurs fan since I can remember.

I know things are way better than before but I still feel really on edge whenever I go to a game. I'm not trying to cause an argument or tension but some experiences I've had with some Spurs fans haven't been nice. Mostly I go with my Dad but on the occasions where I'm on my own I feel super uncomfortable.

Do any other girls have this experience? What do people think?

My daughter has been coming to WHL with me since she was 7.

She's 33 now and has always really enjoyed it.

She was standing next to me in Block 113 row 13 in the North Stand for the game against Leicester.

She was fed up walking from block 113 to 109 to go to the toilet on Sunday.

Apart from that I don't think she has had any negative experiences that didn't involve the outcome of a game.

Thanks for replying. So glad she's had a good experience.

When I was younger going to whl it was so nice being able to go to the toilet quickly 🤣

But honestly, the example I said in my post in the introduce thread and then one time I went to the nwhl start of the season for my birthday and it was outrageously hot. I went inside to get some water and this guy at the bar was going on and on at me. I was kinda like are you not here to watch the game. He said he wanted to see my eyes 🙄 I was wearing sunglasses at the time. Then I took them off then he said ugh yeah your make ups all messed up. Like fuck off and watch the football you fuckbag.

Sorry it just makes me so angry.

I'm sorry you've had this experience, it's not great is it? My wife is also a ST holder and she's never had any issues and the supporters bus I come to games on had loads of women, none have had any problems I've heard of. But that's not to say it doesn't happen, we all know it happens.

That is top quality swearing by the way so you've joined the right forum.

Thanks for replying. Glad your wife has had a good experience. Yeah it's really not nice when you're all there together to support the spurs you know?

Haha love that.

I have female friends that are, or have been, regular attendees and Spurs. To the best of my knowledge they haven't had similar experiences. That said, they are not shrinking violets and wouldn't stand for any of that bollocks

Keep going and stand your ground. I'm sure other Spurs fans would have your back if necessary.

Thanks. I am quite a shy and anxious person so who knows maybe people pick up on that?

I think it also shows when speaking to other people be it at work, or a night out and the conversation comes around to football. I clearly hang out with the wrong people but everyone always challenges me to a silly question and can't possibly believe I'm actually a football fan. I had it at uni too, I went to a pub to watch the man City game that got us into the CL and this one guy was talking to me and then he said 'oh wow so you are really into your football' Like what does that even mean??

Be yourself and fuck what anyone else thinks. Good luck.

One of my daughters sits next to me in block 108 (where all the cool kids sit), she's in her late 20s, went to her first game when she was 7. I know she thinks the toilets at the stadium are 'rough', however, to my knowledge she's never had any trouble with blokes over football and her being a girl.

I read your introduction post earlier and I'm pissed off that you had some tit speak to you like that, fair play to your Dad. Sadly there's a lot of pricks out there who think women have no idea about football, fuck them.

Just be you.

Glad she's had a nice experience.

Yeah it was really horrible tbh. Luckily my Dad said something to him like 'she knows more than me!' Also before the game we were able to get a drink. I asked for a beer, he said 'half pint yeah' I said no, a pint please. Ughhhh.

Hello Amy!

It’s lovely to have another female posting on here - there’s a few of us ladies on here who I’m sure will introduce themselves to you at some point.

I personally have never experienced any negativity at a game, but I know from hearing from others it can happen unfortunately.

Like fuck off and watch the football you fuckbag.

I have a feeling you’ll fit in well around here! :harrylol:

Thank you! I'm glad you've not experienced it and I hope one day it won't be a 'thing' you know? Nice you meet you 💖

Welcome to the forum

There will always be the odd caveman but don't let it stop you doing something you enjoy (might be stretching it in our current state )

I'd like to think that for every dickhead there will be thousands of good people that will have your back should you need it

I've tried for years to persuade my partner to come to spurs games with me but she very much has a perception of football and football fans that isn't particularly positive at times
