Carrick was different. The strong and silent type. The personification of professionalism. He kept things ticking in the middle and gave us a more majestic presence rather than the usual seasonal jestering.

He couldn't shit on us fast enough never got the obsession with him in some quarters
ffs did you watch him live? Don’t disagree with the swift exit but what a playerHe couldn't shit on us fast enough never got the obsession with him in some quarters
Yes I watched him live. I also watched, Modric Bale and Kane. He wasn't fit to carry their kit bag. Overrated in a period we got used to living on rations. B+ player bigged up by the English, dime a dozen player in Seria A over that periodffs did you watch him live? Don’t disagree with the swift exit but what a player
He was very, very decent for us ; he’d would have willingly stayed with the Club ; it wasn’t for Daniel’s pre-occupation with discovering young Starlets and moving them on when the time and money was deemed appropriate.
He could be very good, neat and tidy and not all that, often all at once. He was part of a general incremental improvement under Jol that people remember fondly because how shit we had been before. Good player never a great one. I agree about the weakness, it was why I eye roll at the misty eyed recollection of Hojbjerg I was at the Emirates when Partey totally own him it was cringe, I'm never forgiving him, he was practically wailing "No mas" by 60 mins.I never moan at the players unless they show weakness (Hundredstone getting put on the grass by Forehead at Stoke) that's why I get annoyed by Vic flapping and Cutey getting owned by various opponents (Delap and the Woolwich cvnt spring to mind)
So I was a bit meh on Carrick and my mate said to me "we will miss him when he moves on".
Dead right Mr Leader
He 100% wanted out. We wanted to keep him. But oddly it's not held against this "good bloke"So why did the club reject a bid, and why did Carrick ask to leave.
Funny way of making the point isnt it?

At the time, he was a huge step up in quality for us. Selling him to United was a mistake. Unless I am misremembering, Zakora was his replacement, which was and is highly questionable even now.
Facts are facts. He forced a move to United mid contract. So doesn’t get a pass for that.
THISFine player when given time on the ball, but was so one paced it was unreal. Being one paced is fine if you have the ability and intelligence of a Pirlo or Busquets, but he was not at that sort of level.
