our footballing Kids

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Many of us are at the age, or well past it, of having our kids play football at varying levels.
I love watching my boy play, he is 9 now and is clearly a decent footballer, runs hard, puts a tackle in and can find a decent pass, he lacks nerve infront of goal, so perhaps not a natural goal scorer, but he makes me very proud every weekend.. The local team wears white too, which is a bonus, black shorts though, but i can live with that.
So, any Dads or Mums , give your kids a mention !
Possible future Spurs ??

A few years ago, one of the teams of kids I was coaching at U11s had a kid who was AMAZING.
It was like the ball was glued to his foot, he could win the ball in defence, beat every other kid on the pitch, twice, and tap it into the net. Or could hammer one in from 20yds. Very small and skinny but great control, pace and ability.
He also had a twin brother, who was shite.
Unfortunately, his parents lost their jobs during the recession and couldn't afford the subs anymore, so he had to stop playing.
He was, without doubt, the best young kid I've ever seen, of course he was too young to say whether he would have made it or not, but fuck me, he was brilliant.

My boys only played for the social aspect, they didn't put in any extra effort. They are at university now and their days of playing football are over.

My daughters on the other hand are another story.

Oldest is a U15 and she is a natural defender, she prefers to play outside so she can get up the field a bit more but has been forced into playing centre half since last year because her team severely needed help down the middle due to girls getting hurt and/or quitting at school and she switched clubs this year and that coach plays her equally at every position on the back line as well as at left mid.

U11 age daughter I'm not convinced really wants to play, but she wants to be just like her older sister so she plays. She is very solid as a defender, but she has pretty good ball control and footwork so her coach prefers to play her as a 6. If she would realize that she can go forward to get balls in no man's land instead of watching the opponent go get it she'll be pretty decent.

My twins are 9 and by far the most naturally talented and in the family. 1 of them can play well anywhere (except goal,) but truly excels as a 10. She works very hard, to the point of coming home from training and going to the yard to train on her own. The other isn't as dedicated but is just as naturally gifted. She plays best as an 8 but like her twin can play anywhere except goal.

I pretty much spend every weekend at matches for one of them, hopefully the twins get placed on the same team in the spring... That would help immensely.
