Club Oxford United new ground application

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Hello, I am an Oxford United supporter and hope you will spare me a few moments as my club needs a favour or 2.

Oxford have not played Spurs for donkey's years, I believe it was an FA cup tie when Gazza tore us apart and you guys winning 4-2. Despite this I am sure some of you will be aware of the limitations of our present 3 sided stadium.
Our landlord will not extend the lease beyond 2026, so we are searching for a new ground. Oxfordshire county council have offered us some land (called The triangle) near to Oxford Parkway station, perfect for access by public transport and park and rides.
The club want to build an environmentally friendly, sustainable stadium and community facility with a 16k capacity. Needless to say Nimbys have opposed the project along with the middle classes of North Oxford 2 miles away who fear football fans will pee in their gardens and park on their lawns.
Oxfordshire County Council have organised a questionnaire to judge the reaction to the stadium plans. Members of yellows forum are writing to all EFL and some Premier clubs asking them to complete the questionnaire, its open to all, local, national, overseas,

If any forum members have a spare 10 minutes to complete the questionnaire it would be much appreciated. The deadline is 23 July 23.59 hrs, You never know you may get drawn away to Oxford in The FA or league cup in the future and a new ground will make the experience so much better, and give us a chance to beat you for the 1st time ever
Here is the link to the survey.
Sorry this post is so long , but thanks for reading it

Will Oxfordshire county council let you out of your zones to attend football matches?

Will you need a permit for every game?

Could you not ground share with Oxford City and improve their set up?

We played you in a Friendly with Robbie Keane and it was Postigas first game!

ps my missus comes from north Oxford and is indeed very middle class!

Survey done , good luck fella

Just giving this a bump as it is now one week until the Survey closes on 23 July. Thank you if you have already filled in the survey to help ensure Oxford United isn't homeless from 2026 and can instead offer a new ground which is easy to access via public transport, offers modern facilities, and will ensure a better atmosphere for both home and away fans. The survey and more information can still be found here: How do Oxford United’s proposals for the land known as ‘the Triangle’ impact the communities of Oxfordshire?
To answer a few points raised by you guys,
Oxford City's ground is small, basically a fence around a pitch with a dual carriage on 1 side. Also in the middle of nowhere.
Not sure about LTNs/zones. I do not live near one so no real experience.
I was at Park Lane end for that FA cup match, and I remember seeing highlights on MOTD when not all matches were covered in those days

Best of luck to Spurs and all you guys for the upcoming season. We start at Cambridge United on 5th August, who are not particularly our rivals by the way.
Thank you again for taking an interest.

Apologies for interrupting your day, there must be much to talk about following yesterdays derby. A great game and you guys could have edged it in the end.

I want to thank all those on this forum who filled in the Oxfordshire County Council survey. The good news is that OCC agreed last week to lease the land to OUFC for their new stadium. We move onto planning permission with the local authority. Initial plans are to be released on 9th October. Exciting times both on and off the pitch, 2nd in Div 2 ,1 point behind pompey with a game in hand.

Thank you all again , and best wishes for the rest of the season

Can't find an Oxford United thread to post this article in.

What a crazy story. Bob Maxwell, aka The Bouncing Czech, had taken over Oxford United. But had this crazy scheme to merge the club with Reading FC. Possibly to be called the "Thames Valley Royals". Urgh.

It all fell through of course, although the Football League initially thought the idea "exciting". Yeah you could say that!

Although both clubs were struggling at the time in the old 3rd Division, after this they both turned a corner. Reading gained a promotion, while Oxford even got into Division 1, and won the League Cup.

Maxwell left Oxford to his son, Kevin while he took over Derby County. Then bought Dean Saunders from Oxford - what a crooked family.

The Manager who got Oxford the 2 promotions left to join QPR, the team that Oxford beat in the League Cup final. Jim Smith, "The Bald Eagle".

Fun Fact: Scolar was trying to sell Spurs to Maxwell. So we'd have ended up being raided to pay Maxwell's massive debts, like the Mirror Pension fund was.
