ENIC's metaphorical managerial merry go round search continues....

...round and round and round she goes, where she stops nobody knows...or gives a flying fuck about anymore.

Sacking Mourinho, and the timing of it, didnt bother me at all. He had to go, things were clearly lost with him and the decline setting root. I dont even mind it being before the final, I can see some sense in trying to get a new manager bounce for the game.

Giving it to Mason. Again, I dont mind. Hes a coach that knows the players, set up, and advocates a more dynamic/attacking style of play. With the intent we wanted to get back to what works for us, I didnt mind Mason as something of a palette cleanser between Mourinho and the new manager.

Apparent early targets of Nagelsmann, Potter, Ten Hag - very happy with. All fitting the profile of the sort of manager we were looking for, a profile I very much support.

Switching to Poch, I dont get. I disagreed with it completely, on the basis it just was too soon to be successful. It seems Poch may even have instigated this, Levy saw a chance to appease fans and went for it. A mistake in my view, but an understandable one. PSG clearly just never interested in playing ball (to my surprise).

Conte becomes available. Not the profile we want, but an elite manager, willing to talk - you have to take that shot. Again, I dont blame the club on this. It was always unlikely to come off, and when it didnt I think we should have returned to our original plan - which we sort of did.

Sudden change to DoF structure really is the first sign of shambles, IMHO. Up to here, whether I agree or not, I can see some sense or try to understand whats happened.

Again, at least partially, I suspect the DoF is brought in to appease fans. I do actually think its a wise decision. And I am impressed with the apparent contol Paratici has been given. But it all seems a bit off the cuff and I dont like that.

Also begs the question why Paritici, when someone like Rangnick is ideal for the role (admittedly, I dont know much of Paritici)

So at this point we are basically starting again.

Onto Fonseca. Not really inspiring, but honestly I came round to the idea pretty quick. Young, progressive, plays an attacking-front foot style - he is fitting that profile we went for initially.

So at this point, Im unimpressed with how we got here, but relatively happy with the outcome.

Then this Gattuso bollocks....

All that makes sense to me there is something went wrong with Fonseca to take us back to square one (for the third time), the idea we'd ditch that deal for Gattuso just doesnt make sense.

And so now, 2 months later, we have hardly made progress. I mean a DoF is some progress, but hardly what we'd want by now. Some I can accept/understand, some just makes no sense. All adding to the appearance of an utter shambles.

I hope, ridiculous as it may be, we come full circle and take a proper look at Potter/Ten Hag again - hopefully we can still end up with the "right" (profile of) manager, even if the journey to getting him has been an absolute fucking farce

I can only assume that Spurs are determined to ensure that they absolutely must get the right choice this time around.

unfortunately the right choice has not been born yet.

Literally, I started writing the post above - went off and did something else, came back and finished it, posted - "New posts, read now?" - and see this tweet moments later.

Couldnt make it up 😁

And our Italian DoF didn't know about that law before approaching him?
He's just realised he has a massive tax bill himself and is in the process of writing his resignation letter...
