Striker concerns.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Is it just me or is anyone else getting genuinely worried about or situation up front,
I'm not usually one to worry, but the fact pre-season is nearly over and we still only have Defoe has me concerned
because even if we get a new striker in they won't have time to blend with the squad properly before the season starts.
And even if we sign Adebayor we still need at least another forward.

Do you think it will all work out, or are we in a bit of a tricky situation?

You all realise that Levy and Co have been waiting for this thread to start before signing a striker.

I for one am glad someone finally started this thread. The rest of you who haven't been game enough to start a knee-jerk thread should be ashamed! You all know that Levy needs Spurs message boards to remind him to buy the players we need. I mean how is he supposed to see the holes in our team if we don't start these threads?
:ap:

We're going to get a good striker. Daniel Levy is going to buy one. He's brought in AVB as a progressive step to take the club forwards, no way he doesn't supplement that move with a good quality forward.

So everyone chill.

Totally agree....I think it will all work out, but to say Im not concerned would be a pathetic lie.

We've needed a two top strikers for the last 6 windows now, and so far Ade on loan has been our best effort. It would have been nice to have the first team playing together in the U.S, but knowing us, the new striker will probably make his debut three weeks into the season, for the sake of saving 1.2M.

We are aiming high blah blah blah etc etc, but not taking the risks we need to with regards to signing strikers.

At this stage (basing my stance purely on what I know from The Press), Id write off the Ade deal, put in a monster bid for Falcao, and tie up either the Leandro or Remy deals.

This is not a knee jerk thread.
Sure it's not totally knee jerky but in a year where the Euros and Olympics are on and business with players involved at either tournament wouldn't be done till after the tournament ends, I'd say it has a knee jerky flavour.

I think the problem is that, since Berbatov and Keane left, we've never been particularly great in the striker department. The only striker we've had that inspires confidence in the forward line was a loan (no, not you Frazer). So now, in a summer where we have only one recognised striker, when that lot down the road have made a few good attacking signings, we're too close to the Newcastle game for it not to be a frightening prospect.

Yeh I understand your point and for sure, there is a part of me that's running around screaming, "WHERE ARE THE STRIKERS ... WHY WON'T LEVY BUY A DAMN STRIKER!!!!". I'm a Spurs fan after all, so there's always going to be a glass half empty corner in my brain. I just figure that I won't go into full panic mode until after the Olympics football is finished a couple of days and we still haven't signed 2 of the 3 most talented players on the planet.

btw, you just know Frazer's having a sulk after what you wrote above ;)

Still think we're gonna end up with Ade, just hope we get someone else for back up also.

Ah well, at least we'll always have Liverpool in the Carling Cup :p

Also, I understand that taking this summer as a standalone, it's not too awful, circumstances haven't really been in our favour. But it's just been too long since I've been genuinely excited by a striker signing.

Of cause had we got AVB, Siggy, Jan and the promise of more spending money last summer, then we'd probably also have 1 or 2 young Brazilian strikers and a Portuguese midfielder before the preseason tour.

Now I feel knee jerky :(
